Manny Machado Reaches Base Five Times in Padres Win
Manny Machado was red-hot Tuesday night, going 4-for-4 with a walk in a 3-2 extra-inning win over the Giants. The veteran reached base in all five plate appearances and delivered a clutch, game-tying single in the ninth that drove in two runs. Now in his seventh season with San Diego, Machado is slashing .315/.380/.489 with an .869 OPS and .378 wOBA across 245 plate appearances. His expected batting average (xBA) of .320 is a career-high, ranking in the 98th percentile. He and the Padres will look to keep their three-game win streak going Wednesday in San Francisco.
