Best Team Fits For 2025 NFL Draft Quarterback Prospects - Cam Ward, Shedeur Sanders, Jalen Milroe

Justin Carter of RotoBaller takes a look at the best team fits for the top 2025 NFL Draft quarterback prospects. Where could Cam Ward, Shedeur Sanders, and Jalen Milroe land?

There are two big names at quarterback in the 2025 NFL Draft class: Miami's Cam Ward and Colorado's Shedeur Sanders. However, there's a third name that should be discussed more: Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe.

Ward and Sanders are likely to go early in the draft, while Milroe could hear his name called anywhere from the middle of the first round to some point during the second round.

Let's take a look at the top three quarterbacks in the 2025 NFL Draft and where they might be the best fit.

Cam Ward

Tennessee Titans

We start with the team that holds all the keys in the 2025 NFL Draft, the Tennessee Titans. Thanks to some late-season jostling and a Week 17 loss to a Texans team that was resting its starters, the Titans are on the clock with the No. 1 pick.

Tennessee had a pretty awful offensive line last season, with PFF ranking the team's O-line as the league's 28th-best unit. For that reason, the Titans should be looking for a quarterback with a little mobility. Between Ward and Sanders, that player is Ward.

While both of the top two quarterbacks in this class are players who are most comfortable in the pocket, Ward can escape pressure in a way that Sanders can't. He found the end zone 17 times on the ground over his three seasons at the FBS level.

New York Giants

Spoiler alert: this won't be the last time the Giants appear on this list.

New York is the best landing spot for any quarterback in this draft class because the team has something that the other quarterback-needy teams don't have, which is an elite wide receiver.

Malik Nabers was unstoppable as a rookie, catching 109 passes for 1,204 yards and seven touchdowns despite Daniel Jones, Drew Lock, and Tommy DeVito all getting starts at quarterback.

Adding Ward to the equation would provide a major boost for this Giants offense, and it'd be a great fit for the 2024 Heisman finalist. Of the teams that realistically need a quarterback, New York is the spot where Ward and Sanders both would love to get to.

Shedeur Sanders

Las Vegas Raiders

It's going to be tough for the Raiders to land Shedeur Sanders as the team selects at No. 6. It would almost certainly require a trade, which will be tough when two teams ahead of them need quarterbacks. Vegas would need to work something out with Cleveland for the No. 2 pick.

But if Sanders could find a way to get to Vegas, he'd be set up to thrive. The team has a solid one-two punch as far as receiving options go with wide receiver Jakobi Meyers and tight end Brock Bowers.

The team's offensive line isn't that much better than Tennessee's, ranking 26th in PFF's rankings, but the emergence of Jackson Powers-Johnson gives this line upside going forward. The team should be closer than Tennessee is to having a line that can protect Sanders.

And that's something any NFL team will have to do. Sanders has an arm that can make any throw, but because of sacks, he finished with negative rushing yards in both of his seasons at Colorado.

New York Giants

And we return to the New York Giants here. Everything I said above in the Cam Ward section remains true, and New York will likely be able to get one of the two players.

If left tackle Andrew Thomas is healthy next year, the Giants could have a much improved offensive line, which should help keep defenders off Sanders. While I'd wager New York would prefer Ward, Sanders would certainly prefer to land here than to land in Tennessee with the Titans.

Jalen Milroe

Pittsburgh Steelers

Talking about where Ward and Sanders land can get boring because there are only three or four realistic options for each. For example, a team like Pittsburgh would be a great fit for either, and the Steelers certainly could use a young quarterback, but there's no realistic way this team trades up high enough from No. 21 to take either player.

What is realistic is that the Steelers take a chance on Alabama quarterback Jalen Milroe, either with that 21st pick or in the second round if Milroe falls.

We saw Pittsburgh have success with a mobile quarterback at the start of the 2024 season when Justin Fields led the team to a 4-2 start before Russell Wilson took over at QB. If Milroe can bring that same mobility while improving on what Fields does as a passer, he could solve some big issues for Pittsburgh.

Of course, that depends on Milroe being able to do those things. However, Pittsburgh would give him a great shot at that with George Pickens at wide receiver.

Seattle Seahawks

Geno Smith's revitalization in Seattle has been a great story, but Smith will turn 35 next season and just threw his most interceptions since his rookie campaign.

Of course, he also had the most passing yards of his NFL career, so there's no guarantee Smith is at the tail end of his time in the league. Still, Seattle needs to consider the future at some point, especially since 2025 is the final year of Smith's contract.

Seattle would be a great spot for Milroe to spend a year on the bench before taking over in 2026. The combination of DK Metcalf and Jaxon Smith-Njigba at wide receiver would provide Milroe with the kind of help that a quarterback with some accuracy concerns needs.

Miami Dolphins

Tua Tagovailoa is an above-average NFL quarterback when healthy, but his long history of injuries, including concussion issues, means that Miami should have a better backup plan in place than Tyler Huntley.

Drafting Milroe on Day 2 might be too much of a luxury pick for a team that has hopes of making the postseason every year, but it could be a smart future play. We simply don't know how long Tagovailoa has left in the NFL.

For Milroe, he'd get to learn behind Tagovailoa and would be in a system that's built to be easy for quarterbacks. Even if Tyreek Hill isn't in Miami long-term, having Jaylen Waddle and a head coach who consistently builds strong run games would be great for Milroe's future outlook.
