Vancouver Canucks defenseman Filip Hronek (upper body) is expected to miss time. According to Sportsnet's Elliotte Friedman, the 27-year-old will be out for "a while." Hronek was hurt late in Wednesday's 5-4 loss to Pittsburgh when he crashed shoulder-first into the boards after a hit by Penguins defenceman Jack St. Ivany. The Canucks have seen Hronek's offensive numbers decline this season, but he will still be a big miss. The Czech rearguard works on the first defensive pairing, averaging 23:38 of ice time. He has totaled nine points (one goal, eight assists) in 21 games with 24 shots, 21 blocks, and 36 hits. Hronek also carries by far the team's best plus/minus with plus-14. Vincent Desharnais is expected to step into the lineup as Hronek's replacement on Friday versus Buffalo.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
