Oakland Athletics No. 2 prospect Nick Kurtz (hamstring) is likely to land on the seven-day minor-league injured list with Double-A Midland after leaving the third inning of his start on Aug. 24 after stretching to make a play at first base. The 21-year-old first baseman, who was the fourth overall pick in July's draft, immediately grabbed for his hamstring and tried jogging before eventually leaving the contest. Kurtz is 4-for-13 at Midland this year and has a 1.283 OPS in 12 games across two minor-league levels in the start of his professional career. There is currently no timetable for a return, and the A's probably won't rush him back with the minor-league season ending soon. The left-handed slugger is close to a complete hitter already, with his biggest calling card being his above-average raw power to all fields. The earliest we'll probably see him in the big leagues will be in 2026.--Keith Hernandez - RotoBallerRead More News
