Top 25 Fantasy Baseball Prospects To Stash (Week 20): Redraft Rankings

Junior Caminero - Fantasy Baseball Prospects, Waiver Wire Pickups, Draft Sleepers

Eric Cross's top 25 fantasy baseball prospects rankings for Week 20 (2024). MLB prospects, rookies, call-ups who can be fantasy baseball sleepers in redraft leagues.

Well, we're past the trade deadline, and some notable prospects like Deyvison De Los SantosAgustin Ramirez, and Connor Norby all switched teams. Norby had already debuted with Baltimore while De Los Santos and Ramirez are knocking on the door.

And thankfully, we finally saw Jackson Holliday recalled to Baltimore and Coby Mayo was finally freed from Triple-A after mashing all season. We still have plenty of notable names though that could get the call over the final two months of the season.

Remember, stashing fantasy baseball prospects should be done strategically and varies from league to league. Don't leave your teams without much depth just because you want all the high-upside prospects on your roster.

Fantasy Baseball Prospect Rankings Analysis

Junior Caminero, Tampa Bay Rays

At this point, the Rays have to be playing the service time game and making sure Junior Caminero's rookie eligibility is intact for the 2024 season. So when does that mean we'll see Caminero? Well, if this is indeed the case, my calculations have the date around August 25, when they can bring him up and not go over the 45-day service time threshold. From there, the Rays will be able to monitor his at-bats and make sure he doesn't surpass 130 before the end of the season.

That seems to be the most likely scenario at this point, as the Rays were sellers at the trade deadline and are currently 4.5 games back of the third wildcard spot. But maybe they think they still have a shot at a wildcard spot and bring up Caminero for an offensive boost. Honestly, it's hard to say. But what is easy to say is you're going to want Caminero on your team whenever the promotion happens because this is a major impact bat. Over his last 13 games in Triple-A, Caminero is hitting .302 with four home runs, including two home runs and three multi-hit games in his last four.

Deyvison De Los Santos, Miami Marlins

After smashing 28 home runs in 87 games in the Arizona Diamondbacks organization, Deyvison De Los Santos has continued smashing baseballs for Triple-A Jacksonville after the trade from Arizona to Miami, cranking a trio of taters in seven games so far. The power with De Los Santos is undeniable, with a 13% barrel rate and AVG EV over 92 mph. However, De Los Santos still struggles to make consistent contact and has been hovering around the 67% mark this season. He's trimmed the strikeout rate by nearly 5%, which is encouraging.

Whenever De Los Santos gets the call, I'd expect a lower average but with the potential to make a sizeable impact in the power department. That call should happen this season as well, so Miami can see what they have in De Los Santos before the 2025 season.

Jasson Dominguez, New York Yankees

Unfortunately, the cries for Jasson Dominguez to get recalled aren't being helped by the fact that he's gone into a mini funk at the plate lately. In his seven games since returning to Triple-A, Dominguez hasn't left the yard once and has a lackluster .185/.267/.222 slash line with only one extra-base hit. He's also struck out 10 times in those 30 plate appearances.

I'm not overly concerned by this, but I'd imagine the Yankees want to see him get hot again before bringing him back up to take Alex Verdugo's spot in the lineup. Dominguez's massive offensive upside makes him one of the top priority stashes remaining this season, but it might be a week or two before we see him donning the Yankee pinstripes.

Colby Thomas, Oakland Athletics

I'd honestly be shocked if we didn't see the Oakland Athletics give Colby Thomas a chance at the Major League level this season. Thomas has been hitting well all season with 23 home runs and 14 steals in 95 games but has been especially hot of late with a .404/.455/.894 slash line over his last 12 games with eight doubles and five home runs.

Thomas has done a nice job of trimming his swing and miss this season without sacrificing hitting for power at the plate. And given his power/speed blend, Thomas could provide sneaky fantasy value down the stretch for fantasy managers once he gets the call to Oakland. However, the one problem is that everyone in Oakland's outfield (plus Rooker at DH) are hitting well right now.

Brandon Sproat, New York Mets

While I'm not entirely sure the New York Mets bump Brandon Sproat up a third time this season, the high-upside right-hander is now knocking on the door to Queens after his recent promotion to Triple-A Syracuse. In 87.2 innings overall between High-A Brooklyn and Double-A Binghamton this season, Sproat has dominated to the tune of a 2.05 ERA, 0.94 WHIP, 9.3% walk rate, and a 32.9% strikeout rate.

Sproat has blossomed into one of the 10 best pitching prospects in the game and it's not out of the question to say he could debut this season if the Mets end up needing a starter for whatever reason over the final two months of the season.

Prospects Hitting Well With No Clear Path (Last 10 Days)

Matt Shaw (CHC): 47 PA, .415/.457/.683, 3 HR, 4 SB

Shay Whitcomb (HOU): 39 PA, .394/.462/.788, 4 HR, 2 SB

Zach Dezenzo (HOU): 43 PA, .324/.419/.649, 3 2B, 3 HR, 3 SB
