Russian center Evgeny Kuznetsov has inked a deal with SKA Saint Petersburg of the KHL. The 32-year-old moves back to his homeland after having his contract with Carolina mutually terminated. Kuznetsov reportedly also attracted NHL interest before signing a four-year deal with SKA. A Stanley Cup champion with Washington in 2018, Kuznetsov suited up for 723 regular-season contests in the NHL, scoring 568 points (171 goals, 397 assists). Kuznetsov was among the NHL's best playmakers in his prime but struggled in the last couple of seasons in the league. He recorded only 24 points (eight goals, 16 assists) across 63 appearances in 2023-24.
