ANALYSIS: Baltimore Orioles starting pitching prospect Chayce McDermott has been performing well at Triple-A and is projected to reach the major leagues later this summer. Through 47 innings with Triple-A Norfolk, the 25-year-old has posted a 4.02 ERA, 1.55 WHIP, and a 30:75 BB:K ratio.
After posting a poor 18:24 BB:K ratio and 2.06 WHIP in April, the number eight prospect in Baltimore has begun to turn things around with a 7:45 BB:K ratio and 1.25 WHIP in May.

Over the past two seasons, McDermott has logged 97 ⅔ innings at the Triple-A level and is nearing the end of his development.
With the recent news of Tyler Wells (elbow) and John Means (forearm) needing season-ending surgery, McDermott does have a path to being a viable fantasy contributor in the second half of the season. He is worth stashing in deeper leagues, but shallow league managers should wait until a promotion is official.
