Christopher Bell battled for the lead for quite a while at North Wilkesboro. The Joe Gibbs Racing driver started third and clashed several times with Denny Hamlin and particularly, Joey Logano. Bell never cleared Logano for the lead and after being forced three-wide several times, the No. 20 car ran into problems. The car kept slowing down. With times in the 19-19.2 second range, Bell lost positions and speed off the corners in bunches. Some of that could be attributed to the run-in with Logano on Lap 115.
