New York Islanders goaltender Semyon Varlamov (lower body) is on target to return to action Thursday on the road versus the Montreal Canadiens. The veteran hasn't appeared since suffering his injury in the first period of a Jan. 2 overtime loss to the Colorado Avalanche, one of his former teams. It's been a rock-solid season for Varlamov, who owns a 2.78 goals-against average and a stellar .918 save percentage across 14 outings (13 starts), going 6-4-2 in the process. Additionally, his 6.12 goals saved above average ranks 13th of 67 qualified netminders, as per Hockey Reference. Ilya Sorokin has started all 10 games for the Isles during Varlamov's absence, while Ken Appleby was returned to the AHL when Varlamov was activated off Injured Reserve on Monday.--Brenton Kemp
