Free-agent pitcher Yariel Rodriguez and the Toronto Blue Jays have agreed to an unspecified contract. The Cuban hurler and the Blue Jays were reportedly increasingly likely to get a deal done a couple of weeks ago, and it appears they have indeed come to terms, although immigration hurdles remain while Rodriguez still needs to undergo a physical. The right-hander pitched in Japan from 2020-22, most recently working to a strong 1.15 ERA across 56 relief outings with the Chunichi Dragons of Japan's Nippon Professional Baseball. He has a history of being a starter but was used exclusively out of the Dragons' bullpen from 2021-22 and will likely end up in the Blue Jays' bullpen as well.--Brenton Kemp
