Carolina Hurricanes winger Andrei Svechnikov (upper body) was a late scratch on Thursday. Svechnikov took warmups but did not end up playing in the game, with Brendan Lemieux entering the lineup. The 23-year-old has been ravaged by injuries and illnesses this season, playing only 16 of the team's 26 games so far while missing time due to a knee injury, an illness, and now this upper-body injury. Hopefully he can get healthy, as he can be a very effective player when all systems are a go. His next chance to suit up will be Saturday against Vancouver.--Matt Garon - RotoBaller
