Boston Bruins defenseman Charlie McAvoy has had his four-game suspension upheld on appeal by NHL commissioner Gary Bettman. The rear guard was handed a four-game ban for a hit to the head of Florida Panthers defenseman Oliver Ekman-Larsson during a 3-2 overtime win on Oct. 30. He has missed three games since the incident, leaving him eligible to return to the lineup Saturday on the road against the Montreal Canadiens. It's been a hot start to the season for the American who has tallied two goals and eight points across nine games with 23 penalty minutes, 19 shots, 17 hits, and 20 blocks, as well. The Bruins have managed to thrive without their No. 1 defenseman as they sit second in the NHL with 21 points thanks to a 10-1-1 record on the young campaign.--Brenton Kemp
