X-Rays Negative On Matthew Stafford's Thumb

Updating a previous report, X-rays came back negative on Los Angeles Rams quarterback Matthew Stafford's right thumb, but it's still possible that he'll miss some time. Stafford hit his right thumb on the helmet of Dallas Cowboys star pass-rusher Micah Parsons in the second quarter on Sunday in the blowout loss and was in obvious pain as he rushed off the field. Backup Brett Rypien took over for good after halftime. The 35-year-old Stafford finished 13-for-22 for 162 yards, one touchdown and one interception. The Rams will continue to evaluate Stafford throughout the week, but with their bye coming in Week 10, it seems likely that they'll look to hold him out in Week 9 against the Packers in Green Bay.
