Joe Burrow Injury Update

Cincinnati Bengals quarterback Joe Burrow (calf) has been dealing with a nagging calf strain since the preseason and reaggravated the strain during a Week 2 loss. Burrow was not listed on the injury report ahead of Week 5 and wound up turning in his best game of the season, throwing for 317 yards and three touchdowns.

Burrow told reporters on Wednesday that he is finally feeling confident enough to run around and extend plays. Fantasy gamers who have stuck with Burrow through a rough first four weeks of the season can begin to count on the star signal-caller in lineups moving forward. Burrow and the Bengals will face the Seattle Seahawks in Week 6. (ProFootballTalk)

Anthony Richardson Injury Update

Indianapolis Colts rookie quarterback Anthony Richardson (shoulder), who was placed on Injured Reserve on Wednesday, is expected to miss four to eight weeks, depending on his rehab and whether he would still need surgery on his right shoulder, according to a source. Richardson suffered an AC joint sprain in his right shoulder in the Week 5 win over the Tennessee Titans and is now going to be out for a while.

The talented 21-year-old signal-caller deserves to be stashed in all fantasy formats for now, as he should be able to make a return later in the year. Until then, veteran Gardner Minshew will lead the Colts' offense and will be in play in two-QB leagues for the foreseeable future.

Deshaun Watson Injury Update

Cleveland Browns quarterback Deshaun Watson (shoulder) did not practice on Wednesday. Watson suffered a right rotator-cuff contusion in Week 3 and was held out of action in Week 4 before the team's bye in Week 5. Even with a week off to rest, the 28-year-old signal-caller isn't a lock to return this weekend to face the San Francisco 49ers and their vaunted defense.

Watson is considered day-to-day for now, but we should have a better idea of his status for Sunday's game after the Browns conduct two more practices on Thursday and Friday. Even if Watson makes his return in Week 6, he'll be a QB1 to fade in a terrible matchup coming off injury. If Watson misses a second straight game, the Browns are going to go with P.J. Walker at QB over rookie Dorian Thompson-Robinson.

Geno Smith Injury Update

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Geno Smith (knee) was a full participant in practice on Wednesday. Smith tweaked his knee in the Week 4 win over the New York Giants but he had the bye week to heal up. Head coach Pete Carroll said earlier this week that Smith's knee is "fine," so he's fully expected to play this Sunday on the road in Cincinnati against the Bengals.

The 33-year-old missed time due to his knee injury in Week 4 and didn't have to do much in a blowout victory. In four total games so far this year, he's thrown for 846 yards on 123 attempts for five touchdowns and only one interception. Smith will have some low-end QB1 streaming appeal in a decent matchup against the Bengals defense in Week 6.

Daniel Jones Injury Update

New York Giants head coach Brian Daboll said that quarterback Daniel Jones (neck) is sore and did not practice on Wednesday due to the neck injury he suffered in the Week 5 loss to the Miami Dolphins. The Giants are still listing Jones as day-to-day, and they said earlier this week that they were optimistic about his chances of playing on Sunday night against the Buffalo Bills.

The good news is that Jones' neck injury is different and less serious than the one he previously dealt with, but it doesn't mean that he will play in Week 6 in a shy-away matchup against Buffalo on the road in primetime.

Even though the Bills suffered some key injuries on the defensive side of the ball in London last week, they should still be able to get to Jones (if he plays) behind New York's porous offensive line. Fantasy managers should be fading Jones as a QB1 this week if he manages to play.

Derek Carr Injury Update

New Orleans Saints quarterback Derek Carr (shoulder) was able to practice in full on Wednesday. Carr suffered an AC joint sprain in his right throwing shoulder in Week 3 but surprisingly played the very next week in a win over the Carolina Panthers. A full practice early in the week is a good sign that Carr is progressing nicely from the injury. He shouldn't have any problem being active this Sunday for a matchup versus the Houston Texans on the road.

The 32-year-old has been decent but not spectacular in the last two games while playing through the shoulder injury, throwing for 310 yards on 63 pass attempts with two touchdowns and no interceptions. Carr is the QB32 in overall fantasy points through the first five weeks, so he'll be a low-end QB2 option yet again in Week 6.
