New York Rangers left wing Alexis Lafreniere was unable to practice on Saturday due to an upper-body injury, and he is considered day-to-day. The former No. 1 draft pick is getting ready to enter his fourth NHL campaign. He has so far produced only 47 goals and 91 points in 216 games. Getting injured right before the start of a new campaign is a fresh blow for Lafreniere, but Rangers head coach Peter Laviolette has offered some hope that the 21-year-old can recover in time for Thursday's season opener. "He was out there this morning," Laviolette said after Saturday's practice. "I'm thinking he'll return to us tomorrow, and from there, we'll see how he is."--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
