Winnipeg Jets defenseman Ville Heinola (ankle) was placed on Injured Reserve on Friday after he was hurt in the team's final preseason game. Heinola fractured his ankle early in the contest and is expected to miss at least eight weeks. The 22-year-old blue-liner had a productive AHL campaign last term with 37 points (four goals, 33 assists) across 48 outings and hoped to break into the NHL roster for the new season.
