Colorado Avalanche defenseman Josh Manson (oblique) is expected to be ready in time for the club's regular-season opener Oct. 11 versus the Los Angeles Kings. The rugged blueliner has yet to play in the preseason after undergoing offseason surgery to repair torn oblique muscles suffered early in the first round of last season's Stanley Cup Playoffs. Manson also missed 55 regular season contests with a lower-body injury before making it back in time for the start of the postseason. Known for his stay-at-home style, the 31-year-old tallied two goals and 10 points across 27 games last season and has missed significant time due to a myriad of injuries over the last few seasons.--Brenton Kemp
