Detroit Lions - NFL Betting Analysis

Despite finishing in second place in the NFC-North, the Lions still missed out on a Wild-Card berth and the playoffs. Detroit's overall record was 9-8 and 5-1 in the division. At home, the Lions put together a mark of 5-4 while going 4-4 on the road.

Last season, Jared Goff completed 65.1% of his passes for a total of 4438 yards. For the season, he finished 6th among QB's in passing yards and 4th in touchdowns (29). Goff's passer rating for the season was 99.3 (14th). Detroit is coming off a season in which they were 5th in points per game, at 26.6 points per contest. In terms of their offensive efficiency, they averaged 5.9, which was 5th in the NFL. On the ground, the Lions ran the ball an average of 28.2 times per contest (13th) and finished 8th in passing yards.

Defensively, the Lions' struggled throughout the season, allowing an average of 25.1 points per game (27th). Detroit's rushing defense finished 29th at 146.5 yards per game and 30th in passing yards allowed. Opposing quarterbacks put together a passer rating of 92.25 vs. the Lions (30th).

The Lions are coming off a season in which they went 12-5 vs. the spread and had an over/under record of 10-7. Detroit's average scoring margin for the season was +1.5 points per game with their games averaging a combined 51.8 points.

 

Kansas City Chiefs - NFL Betting Analysis

Heading into the season, the Chiefs are looking to defend last year's Super Bowl Title after beating the Eagles by a score of 38-35. During the regular season, the Chiefs finished 1st in the AFC-West on an overall record of 14-3. Last year's team went 9-1 at home and 8-2 on the road.

In the passing game, Kansas City ranked 5th in passing attempts and 1st in passing yards. Their ground game saw the Chiefs average 115.7 yards per contest (20th).

The Chiefs are coming off a season in which they were 17th in points allowed. Opposing team's finished the year with an average of 22.2 points per game vs. the Chiefs defense. Kansas City's run defense wrapped up the season 8th in the NFL, while opponents finished with a completion percentage of 65.9% vs. the Chiefs and a passer rating of 92.66.

Last season, the Chiefs had an overall ATS record of 8-12 which included going 5-5 on the road and 3-7 at home. For the season, their games were 2nd in total points with an average of 51.4 points per game, leading to an over/under record of 9-11.
