Gameweek 3 Rankings - Fantasy Premier League Predictions, Tips, and Picks for 2023/24

FPL Gameweek 3 rankings, predictions, tips, and picks for Fantasy Premier League lineups. RotoBaller's EPL fantasy football Gameweek 3 rankings for 2023/24.

Welcome to Gameweek 3 of the FPL season, RotoBallers! This is the third year covering FPL on the site, and we are bringing you more coverage than ever before. We will publish the Gameweek Preview, consisting of a Staff Roundtable and our rankings every week. Then, once a month, we will publish our newest article, The Watchlist, a review of the previous month and a look ahead to the upcoming fixtures.

Two gameweeks down, 36 more to go. Manchester City got through a stern test of the young season against Newcastle. This week, they'll get a much easier opponent in Sheffield United on Sunday. Chelsea looks to get in the win column versus Luton Town to kick off the gameweek, and Brighton will try to maintain their perfect start with a tricky visit from West Ham.

The Fantasy Premier League Gameweek 3 deadline is 1:30 PM EST on Friday, August 25, for the Chelsea-Luton Town game. Also, look out for the rest of our excellent soccer coverage as the squad gets you all set for every English Premier League, Major League Soccer, and UEFA Champions League slate from a DFS and betting perspective.

Fantasy Premier League - Gameweek 3 Rankings

Our weekly rankings highlight players who could be worth a punt in your Fantasy Premier League squad. While the rankings will be filled with familiar names, a low-owned player with an easy fixture will rise up the one-week charts. For each gameweek, we will provide our top 15 goalkeepers, defenders, midfielders, and forwards. These can also be applied as DFS rankings for your weekend contests.

Gameweek 2 Fantasy Premier League High Scorers

  • Goalkeeper: Vicario, Spurs - 11 points
  • Defender: Pervis Estupinan, Brighton - 11 points
  • Midfielder: Bryan Mbeumo, Brentford - 16 points
  • Forward: Yoane Wissa, Brentford - 11 points

FPL Goalkeepers - Gameweek 3 Rankings

  • With a home game against Nottingham Forest, Onana tops the goalkeeper rankings. Forest looks much improved through two games this year, but this squad scored the fewest away goals in the league last season. Onana has been busy through the first two weeks, but a clean sheet and a few saves will give his managers some much-needed Fantasy Premier League points.
  • Robert Sanchez is predicted to have the same number of points as Onana and has better clean sheets. However, Chelsea has sometimes looked leaky, and Sanchez doesn't seem 100 percent comfortable in his new system. Luton Town only scored a penalty against Brighton in Gameweek 1 and shouldn't pose too much of a threat.
  • Ederson and Man City should begin the year with their third consecutive clean sheet, and it may be time to consider their defensive assets. Everyone is debating whether to bring in Phil Foden or Julian Alvarez this week, but Ederson is the only player nailed in this starting XI.

FPL Defenders - Gameweek 3 Rankings

  • With the home game on Friday night against Luton Town, Chelsea players will be trendy in FPL. Their run of fixtures over the next two months looks like it was cooked up in a lab. It's that good. Ben Chiwell will be captain for the game with Reece James on the sideline, and managers should expect more than the single point he provided last week against West Ham.
  • Josko Gvardiol tops all Manchester City defenders, and he's my preferred choice as a transfer candidate for Gameweek 3. His ability to play several spots along the back line will keep him in the Citizen's starting XI, and they should have little to no trouble dispatching the newly promoted Sheffield United.
  • With Oleksandr Zinchenko's possible return to the Arsenal squad, it may open the door for Gabriel to get his first start of the campaign. The Brazilian defender has frustrated Fantasy Premier League managers with a single point in each of the first two gameweeks because of Mikel Arteta's tactical preferences. With Zinchenko back in the lineup, the Gunner's defense should return to how it looked for much of the 2022/23 Premier League campaign.

FPL Midfielders - Gameweek 3 Rankings

  • Bryan Mbeumo has rewarded the managers who selected him in Gameweek 1 with three goals and an assist through two games of the 2023/24 Fantasy Premier League season. Next up, the midfielder has another London derby against a well-constructed Crystal Palace side. Mbeumo being on penalties increases his goal-scoring chances every week, and he's converted both of his spot kicks this year.
  • Phil Foden put on a Man of the Match display against Newcastle United last weekend and has the entire FPL community scrambling to get the England international in their squads. Pep Roulette is always a gamble, but Foden's early-season performances should see him stick in the starting lineup. He should've had more than his nine points last Saturday, and a game against Sheffield United will give Foden several opportunities to rack up more FPL points.
  • Marcus Rashford and Bruno Fernandes are the buzz of FPL right now, but not in the way they would prefer. Manchester United has looked relatively flat across the first 180 minutes of their season and have one point to their name. However, Fernandes' underlying stats are glorious, and there's word that Anthony Martial could start at forward and push Marcus Rashford out to his better-suited left-wing role. FPL managers should hold their Man United assets.

FPL Forwards - Gameweek 3 Rankings

  • The Manchester City duo of Erling Haaland and Julian Alvarez tops the Game 3 rankings for Fantasy Premier League forwards. 91 percent of FPL managers roster Haaland already, so it's up to Alvarez to score some green-arrow-creating points. Phil Foden is my preferred second attacker from City, but he also cost £1M more than Alvarez. If you are on a budget, Alvarez is an excellent pick to get more exposure to the Sky Blue onslaught.
  • Nicolas Jackson has two more yellow cards than goals this year, but he still feels like a great pick. As mentioned earlier, Chelsea has a fantastic run of fixtures over the next five gameweeks, and their new signing will have tons of chances to grab goals for our FPL lineups.
  • Newcastle demolished Aston Villa in Gameweek 1, where Alexander Isak scored two of the Magpies' five goals. Liverpool plays a high-line defensive philosophy similar to Villa and could allow Isak several looks on goal. The second-year Swede is off to a great start this season and is looking to cement his side's standing as a top-four contender for the second season in a row.
