Joc Pederson, Austin Slater Could Begin Rehab Assignments
1 year agoSan Francisco Giants outfielders Joc Pederson (hand) and Austin Slater (hamstring) could both start minor-league rehab assignments in the next few days. Pederson is "maybe a day or so away from swinging a bat," manager Gabe Kapler said. Slater, meanwhile, is "doing really well," according to Kapler. "In theory, he could be ready in the next three or four days to go out on a rehab assignment or join us. Everything's a possibility at this point." Pederson has been on the injured list since May 15 with a right-hand contusion, but he appears to have made good progress in the last couple of days. Unlike Slater, Pederson is a lineup regular when he's healthy. The 31-year-old left-handed slugger was batting .235 (19-for-81) with four doubles, a triple, five home runs and 18 RBI through 26 games at the time of his injury.
