Andrew Chafin Hit With The Loss Wednesday

Arizona Diamondbacks left-hander Andrew Chafin was the losing pitcher in Wednesday's 5-4 matchup with the Miami Marlins. The 32-year-old threw one-plus innings, allowing one run on one hit while striking out two. Chafin, the presumed closer in Arizona, came on to protect a 4-4 tie in the eighth to face the heart of the lineup. He then started the ninth inning but gave up a leadoff double to Jesus Sanchez before coming out of the game, with that run eventually scoring. Chafin now owns a 4.61 ERA and 1.32 WHIP but with a 39.0% strikeout rate. The 10-year veteran leads the team with five saves, and fantasy managers should expect him to remain the closer for now.
