The Arizona Cardinals had the third overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft. People in the media spent all offseason talking about what the team would do with that selection. In the end, the Cardinals made a blockbuster deal.
Arizona sent the third overall pick to the Houston Texans for multiple draft picks, including the 12th overall pick in the 2023 NFL Draft and a future first-round selection. However, that wasn’t the only deal the team made. The Cardinals traded up to the sixth overall pick and drafted Paris Johnson Jr.
While the team made nine picks this year, arguably the best value was Michael Wilson in the third round at 94th overall.

What Did Michael Wilson Accomplish At Stanford?
Wilson had a limited impact as a freshman, totaling 14 receptions for 126 receiving yards and a touchdown. However, the young receiver was much better in 2019. He had 56 receptions for 672 receiving yards and five touchdowns that year, all career highs.
Unfortunately, Wilson struggled with injuries over the next two years. He played only eight games, catching 38 passes for 446 receiving yards and a touchdown. Thankfully, Wilson ended his college career on a positive note.
He had 26 receptions for 418 receiving yards and four touchdowns in six games last season. Wilson also made several impressive plays during the Senior Bowl week earlier this offseason.
Hopefully, the rookie receiver can stay healthy next year. So, what should Cardinal fans and fantasy players expect from the former Stanford wide receiver?
Is Michael Wilson A Good Fit For The Cardinals?
Many NFL Draft scouts like Wilson’s game. One of his biggest fans is Senior Bowl Executive Director Jim Nagy, who called the Stanford wide receiver this year’s biggest sleeper.
Arizona’s wide receiver room is a massive question mark right now. DeAndre Hopkins is still on the team but clearly wants to get traded to the Buffalo Bills. Meanwhile, Marquise Brown is entering the final year of his contract.
While Rondale Moore and Greg Dortch are solid role players, both wide receivers are small shifty slot receivers. Meanwhile, Wilson should be the favorite to earn the starting role opposite Brown if Hopkins gets traded this offseason. Furthermore, the former Stanford receiver has the talent to be the team’s No. 2 wide receiver of the future. The only question is will he stay healthy long enough to earn that role?
