Brayan Bello Optioned To Triple-A

The Boston Red Sox optioned right-hander Brayan Bello to Triple-A Worcester on Monday and recalled left-hander Brennan Bernardino from Worcester in a corresponding move. With the Red Sox moving to a five-man rotation for the time being, Bello will be the odd man out, with Tanner Houck earning a spot over Bello with a strong start in 2023. The 23-year-old Bello got a late start to the year due to right forearm inflammation, and the young starter has allowed eight runs on 13 hits (two homers) while walking three and striking out eight in 7 1/3 innings in his first two starts. Bello will be back up with the Red Sox at some point this year, but for now he'll continue his development in the minor leagues.
