Columbus Blue Jackets defenseman Nick Blankenburg (ankle) has come off Injured Reserve and is eligible to make his comeback Thursday against Carolina. He hasn't played since Nov. 10 when he fractured his ankle in a game against Philadelphia. The 24-year-old had started the campaign in fine form, posting three points in seven games with 12 hits and 13 blocks. The Columbus backline has taken a number of injury hits, meaning Blankenburg could end up playing a very big role if he's back in the lineup.--Taavi Pailk
