New Jersey Devils goaltender Vitek Vanecek (undisclosed) won't be in the lineup Saturday against Arizona. He was banged up in Thursday's win over Ottawa and the team is giving Vanecek some time off to heal. The Devils desperately need him to fully recover, with MacKenzie Blackwood (knee) having been ruled out for up to six weeks. Akira Schmid finished off Thursday's game in Vanecek's place and looks set to start on Saturday. The team has also called up Nico Daws from the minors. Schmid has a horrible 1-4-0 career record with a 4.56 goals-against average and a .843 save percentage, but New Jersey has been one of the hottest teams in the league early in the season, and the 22-year-old finds himself in a good spot to boost his numbers.--Taavi Pailk - RotoBaller
