The New York Mets traded pitcher Jose Acuna and second baseman Hector Rodriguez to the Cincinnati Reds for outfielder Tyler Naquin and Phillip Diehl on Thursday. Naquin will join a crowded Mets outfield with Mark Canha, Starling Marte and Brandon Nimmo. The 31-year-old will provide the Mets with outfield depth, but he is not expected to see everyday at-bats like he was in Cincinnati. He is slashing .245/.305/.429 with six home runs, 31 RBI, 28 runs scored and three stolen bases over 55 games in 2022. Diehl will add bullpen depth and is expected to have a role in low-leverage situations.
