Jake Odorizzi Exits With Blister On Monday

Houston Astros right-hander Jake Odorizzi (finger) was removed from Monday's start against the Oakland Athletics after a blister developed on one of the fingers of his right hand. The 32-year-old spoke to the press after the game and stated that it was the type of ailment he'd pitched through in the past. He tried to pitch through it again on Monday, but the team wound up electing to remove him from the game instead. It was an ugly day for the veteran as he went five innings and allowed seven hits, one walk and six earned runs while striking out two. The Astros are going with a six-man rotation right now and Odorizzi seems like the most logical pitcher to cut from the rotation if the team chooses to go back down to five starters. As of now, he's slated to make his next start this coming Sunday against the Seattle Mariners.
