Jesus Luzardo Throws Bullpen Session
Jesus Luzardo (forearm) threw a 30-pitch bullpen session on Tuesday. He was moved to the 60-day injured list on June 15, and the Marlins initially thought he would miss just one turn through the rotation. It's unclear how many bullpen sessions Luzardo will need before he's cleared to resume facing live hitters for an eventual minor league rehab assignment. Barring a setback, he could be ready to return to Miami's rotation right around the All-Star break. The 24-year-old southpaw was 2-3 with a 4.03 ERA and a 1.17 WHIP while striking out 41 and walking 16 in 29 innings in his first six starts before going on the shelf.
