Griffin Canning Has A Setback
Griffin Canning (back), who is currently on the 60-day injured list due to a lower back stress fracture, felt some soreness after a two-inning simulated game on May 9, so he will pause his throwing program for a few days. Canning was set to head to Arizona as part of his rehab, but he will instead remain at Angel Stadium to work with team trainers. He's eligible to be activated on June 6, but he might not be ready for that date now after his setback. The 26-year-old has yet to pitch this season for the Halos after going 5-4 with a career-high 5.60 WHIP and 1.48 WHIP while walking 28 and striking out 62 in 14 games (13 starts) covering 62 2/3 innings last year in his third big-league season.
