FanDuel DFS – MLB Lineup Picks, Sleepers and Advice for 7/22/15

By TonyTheTiger (Own work) [CC BY-SA 4.0 (http://creativecommons.org/licenses/by-sa/4.0)], via Wikimedia Commons

Max Petrie analyzes some MLB DFS lineup picks & sleepers for 7/22/15 on FanDuel fantasy baseball daily leagues. His DFS advice and value picks help you win on FanDuel.

We've got another full slate on Wednesday, July 22 with six early games, so make sure to check lineups before games go live at 12:10 ET. Jose Fernandez represents the only pitcher above $10,000 for today, and while he makes for a great play for cash leagues, there's some other pitching options to consider in tourney play. Let's dig in.

Editor’s Note: If you play on FanDuel, you should also check out RotoBaller’s DFS Partner DraftKings – they’re hosting a one-day Fantasy Baseball league tonight. It’s FREE to enter and pays out $60,000 in cash prizes!

Offenses to Target for FanDuel Stacking

Same situation as yesterday. When there's a game going on at Coors it's always smart to grab few bats, particularly for 50/50 formats. I'm going to focus on some options who may not be as heavily owned.

Cleveland Indians versus Kyle Lohse
Kyle Lohse hasn't been showing any signs of improvement lately and has an MLB worst 8.06 ERA at home (the next closest is Trevor Bauer at 5.82). Righties typically have had more success versus Lohse but I'm spreading the love around evenly today. Players I'm targeting: Michael Brantley ($3,600), Francisco Lindor ($2,500), and Yan Gomes ($2,400).

LA Angels versus Mike Pelfrey
Mike Pelfrey's splits are quite extreme so far in 2015: At home he owns a 2.22 ERA. On the road he has a 6.02 ERA. Guess where this game is being held? With multiple Angels hot right now, I'm buying. Players I'm targeting: Albert Pujols ($4,300), Johnny Giavotella ($2,300), and Erick Aybar ($2,700).

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for FanDuel Cash Games

Jose Fernandez (SP, MIA) – $10,300
No need to get cute in 50/50 leagues. JoFer is the top play and has been fantastic since returning to the rotation, posting a 21/1 K/BB ratio in his three starts. Paul Goldschmidt is always a concern for opposing pitchers, but I'm not letting that affect my decision. It's likely JoFer sees heavy ownership in shallow cash games.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider for FanDuel Tournaments

Kyle Hendricks (SP, CHC) – $7,300
I wrote about Hendricks this week, and at this price he makes for an excellent play in tournaments. He has a 21/3 K/BB ratio in his past four starts and owns a career 3.00 ERA vs the Reds in 18 innings. His opponent tomorrow, Mike Leake, has been inconsistent at home this year, so I like the Cubbies chances to pull out the W in the opening game of their double-header.

Honorable Mention: Cody Anderson (SP, CLE) – $6,600

DFS Infielders to Consider for FanDuel

Kyle Schwarber (C, CHC) – $2,500
I'm not sure what Schwarber has to do at this point to improve his salary. I'm not complaining though. Schwarber hit an absolute bomb last night to tie the game and ended up hitting the go-ahead HR in the 13th. I know everyone is going to use Schwarber, but I refuse to miss out on the fun.

Adrian Gonzalez (1B, LAD) – $3,900
I'm a Julio Teheran supporter, but I can't deny this is a juicy matchup. Teheran has allowed a .304/.386/.479 clip to lefties, and A-Gonz is 4-for-9 lifetime vs Teheran with a HR to his name.

Logan Forsythe (2B, TAM) – $2,900

Forsythe makes for an excellent value option for owners looking to spend their cash at SP, 1B, or OF. Forsythe has a .902 OPS vs LHP with Adam Morgan (L) on the mound today.

Chris Johnson (3B, ATL) – $2,800
This pick is based more on external factors than matchup ratings. The Braves are actively trying to move CJ, and the only way to make that happen is to give him playing time to "audition" for competing clubs. I expect Johnson to stay motivated to get himself out of Atlanta.

Erick Aybar (SS, LAA) – $2,700
I mentioned Aybar earlier in my stacking segment, but he remains my favorite option for cheap SS help. He's recorded an RBI in three straight games, and Pelfrey has been awful on the road.

DFS Outfielders to Consider for FanDuel

J.D. Martinez (OF, DET) – $4,200
This Mariners-Tigers series has been a slugfest, and Martinez did his part last night to join in on the fun with a 2-run blast. He owns a .313/.360/.630 split at home which is shocking considering how deep Comerica plays.

Kole Calhoun (OF, LAA) – $4,000
While Mike Trout and Albert Pujols are getting all the attention, Calhoun has been mashing recently. He's batting .462 this week with three HR and also has 9 of his 13 HR vs RHP. Surprised the price is still manageable.

Matt Holliday (OF, STL) – $3,100
Some things never change. It's unbearably humid in the South in July. I have an addiction to FanDuel. Matt Holliday heats up in the second half. Holliday crushed a grand slam last night, and for this low price he's worth running out there again with the unimposing John Danks on the mound.

Jarrod Dyson (OF, KC) – $3,000
You'll need to check lineups before going forward with Dyson, but if he starts he's an excellent value for speed. He has four SB in his past three games, and his splits favor RHP with Charlie Morton (R) on the mound for Pittsburgh.
