Zac Veen - Fantasy Baseball Waiver Wire Pickups and Prospect Stashes (Week 2)

Zac Veen - Fantasy Baseball Rankings, Draft Sleepers, MLB Prospects

Zac Veen is a top prospect fantasy baseball waiver wire pickup and stash for Week 2 of 2025. Read why Veen is a high-upside free agent to add in 12-team leagues.

BALLER MOVE: Add in 12+ Team Leagues

ROSTERED IN: 25% of Leagues

ANALYSIS: The Colorado Rockies are promoting their No. 8 prospect, Zac Veen, ahead of the team's series opener against the Milwaukee Brewers. When Veen appears in his first MLB game, he will be making his career debut. The 23-year-old was selected by the Rockies in the first round of the 2020 MLB Draft and has the potential to be a solid fantasy option right away.

Veen showed that potential during spring training when he hit .270 at the plate with two home runs, four doubles, 11 RBI, and nine stolen bases across 28 games. That makes Colorado's No. 8 prospect an add in some 12-plus team leagues. If you need some stolen bases in your roto leagues, then the young prospect is almost a must-add.

He stole 36 stolen bases back in 2021 across 106 games at Single-A and followed that up by stealing a combined 55 bags in 126 games at High-A and Double-A. It's hard not to be excited about Veen's speed in the majors, given he stole 22 bases in 46 minor leagues in 2023 and another 21 stolen bases in 2024. As a result, his speed will be a real weapon for the Rockies this season.

Before his promotion, he was hitting .387 with one home run, four doubles, eight RBI, and one stolen base in eight games at Triple-A this season and should see an everyday role in this Colorado lineup. Veen is a talented outfielder who was once ranked as MLB Pipeline's No. 27 overall prospect back in 2023.

So, take a chance on him and see how he looks in his first few major league games. Given that the 23-year-old will play half of his games at the most hitter-friendly ballpark at Coors Field, he could finish with solid all-around numbers in his rookie campaign. The potential is there for Veen to hit double-digit home runs with 25 to 30 stolen bases in 2025. He hit 11 home runs in 65 games in the minors last season.
