Yahoo MLB DFS Advice (5/18/17): Daily Fantasy Baseball Lineup Picks

Yahoo DFS advice and daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for 5/18/17 by Justin Klein. MLB DFS player recommendations for your Yahoo daily tournaments and GPPs.

Happy Thursday morning, or afternoon, or whenever you happen to be reading this. There are 11 games on the docket Thursday with only five of them happening in the evening. All five of the night games are connected to the GPP's so they're the ones that I'll be focusing on as a result. The start times of the 11 games that are connected to the GPP contests range from 7:10 to 10:10 EST. Yahoo has some great value options to choose from for DFS games so let's get down to business (because, as usual, it's business time).

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for Yahoo on 5/18/17. The DFS lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays on Yahoo.

You can read our FanDuel and DraftKings DFS lineup picks as well. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to reach out to me on Twitter @justinrklein.

DFS Lineup Stacks to Consider on Yahoo

The New York Yankees have been scoring runs in bunches this season and especially of late. In their past two games at Kansas City they managed to score 18 runs while notching two wins. In the previous two games against Houston they scored 16 runs while going one and one. On Thursday night they face a tough LHP in Danny Duffy, but they've been great against LHP this season, and Duffy hasn't been at his best of late. Projected for five runs I love stacking the Yankees on Thursday evening. Start with Jordan Montgomery and his huge strikeout potential and get as many Yankee bats in your lineups as you can. My favorite hitters are Sanchez, Judge and Hicks.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider on Yahoo

Jordan Montgomery at KC ($34)

As I mentioned in the stack section above I love stacking Montgomery and the Yankees. Jordan has looked sharp thus far in his rookie campaign as he's notched a solid 16.8 fantasy points per game. On Thursday night Montgomery and the Yankees are a solid -120 favorite against the Royals at the pitcher friendly Kauffman Stadium. I expect decent ratios and a bunch of K's from Montgomery on Thursday night in a likely New York win. Even if Jordan gets hit up a bit he should provide value with his strikeouts, and it's always nice to fall back on a pile of K's.

Marcus Stroman at ATL ($41)

I was going to suggest Julio Teheran here, but I can't help flipping the switch and going after a Braves lineup without Freddie Freeman. While we're still waiting on test results about Freeman's wrist he is unlikely to play today. This basically turns the Braves offense into a shell of it's former self. Kind of like the Blue Jays without Josh Donaldson. Stroman is a decent -117 favorite at Sun Trust Park in Atlanta, Georgia. The Braves are only projected to score 3.25 runs and that projection will likely go down if Freeman is out. If for some reason he's in I'm fine with flip flopping to Teheran. Otherwise I expect Stroman to post solid ratios and a handful of K's in a likely Blue Jays win.

DFS Infielders to Consider on Yahoo

Catcher (C) - Gary Sanchez at KC ($18)

Oh look it's Gary Sanchez in the catcher slot again. Weird. If it feels like I'm recommending Gary nearly every day it's because I am. That's how well Sanchez matches up with both right and left handed pitchers. It doesn't even seem to matter that he's in a pitcher friendly park against a solid LHP. That's because in his career against LHP Gary has managed an incredible .317 ISO. Hello nurse!

First Base (1B) - Hanley Ramirez at OAK ($17)

HanRam will face off with Sonny Gray in Oakland on Thursday night and that bodes well for him and his owners in the fake game. In his career against RHP Hanley has managed a rock solid .291/.360/.483 triple slash with a .191 ISO, .364 wOBA and a 125 wRC+.

Second Base (2B) - Whit Merrifield vs NYY ($11)

I don't normally like to play position players against pitchers that I have, but I expect Jordan Montgomery to give up a couple of runs and I also expect Whit Merrifield to play a part in scoring them. That's because Merrifield has thrashed LHP at home in his career to the tune of a .354/.432/.477 triple slash with a .392 wOBA and a 145 wRC+.

Third Base (3B) - Kyle Seager - vs CHW ($16)

Kyle Seager has been on fire on fire at home this season as he's triple slashed a solid .313/.390/.493 at Safeco Field. On Thursday night he'll face RHP Dylan Covey and the White Sox at home. Over his career Kyle has tormented RHP to the tune of a .352 wOBA and a 128 wRC+.

Shortstop (SS) - Corey Seager vs MIA ($18)

Kyle's brother Corey gets to face off with RHP Edinson Volquez at home at Dodgers Stadium on Thursday night and that bodes well for him and his owners in the fake game. This is because Corey has demolished RHP at home in his career as he's posted a ridiculously good .250 ISO, .412 wOBA and a 169 wRC+. That comes with a triple slash of .336/.382/.586 triple slash. Join me and get Corey Seager into all of your lineups on Thursday night.

DFS Outfielders to Consider on Yahoo

Marcell Ozuna at LAD ($18)

Marcell Ozuna has dominated LHP this season to the tune of a .381/.519/.571 triple slash with a .190 ISO, .453 wOBA and a wRC+of 182. On Thursday night he will face LHP Hyun-Jin Ryu in LA at Dodgers Stadium. Ryu has allowed right handed hitters a .541 slugging percentage and a .381 wOBA.  This all adds up to Ozuna being in all of my Yahoo lineups on Thursday night. I suggest that you join me in that venture.

Khris Davis vs BOS ($14)

Khris Davis will face off with RHP Hector Velasquez on Thursday night at home at O.CO Coliseum in Oakland. If you've never heard of Velasquez it's probably because he'll be making his professional debut on Thursday. Outside of 29 innings at the Red Sox Triple-A affiliate this season Hector has only ever pitched for the Mexican team Piratas de Campeche. This bodes well for Davis who has notched a .255 ISO against RHP over his career.

Joc Pederson vs MIA ($11)

Although Joc has had his struggles thus far this season much of them were injury related and he's now totally healthy. Thursday night he'll face off with RHP Edinson Volquez and the Marlins at home and that is a boon for his value in the fake game. This is because Joc has tormented RHP to the tune of a .364 OBP. At home against northpaws in his young career Joc has notched an impressive .275 ISO, .352 wOBA and a wRC+ of 131. For just $11 he's a solid matchup play and a strong value play as well.
