Yahoo MLB DFS Advice (5/17/17): Daily Fantasy Baseball Lineup Picks

Happy Wednesday morning, or afternoon, or whenever you happen to be reading this. There are 15 games on the docket Monday with 11 of them happening in the evening. All 11 of the night games are connected to the GPP's so they're the ones that I'll be focusing on as a result. It's unfortunate that the Clayton Kershaw and Johnny Cueto matchup at AT&T Park is happening during the afternoon. Just goes to show that it's hard to get dealt a pair of aces. The start times of the 11 games that are indeed connected to the GPP contests range from 7:07 to 10:10 EST. Yahoo has some great value options to choose from for DFS games so let's get down to business (because, as usual, it's business time).

In this article, I will be providing you with my daily fantasy baseball lineup picks for Yahoo on 5/17/17. The DFS lineup picks will range from some of the elite players to mid-priced options and value plays on Yahoo.

You can read our FanDuel and DraftKings DFS lineup picks as well. If you have any questions or comments, feel free to reach out to me on Twitter @justinrklein.

DFS Lineup Stacks to Consider on Yahoo

The Chicago Cubs against RHP Scott Feldman and the Reds at home at Wrigley Field Wednesday night. Normally this would be a good matchup to exploit, but it becomes a potential gold mine when the winds are blowing out to center field at roughly 20 MPH. This means that any balls hit hard and elevated into the air have a chance to go out of the park. As a result I'm stacking all the Cubs that I can. My favorites are Ian Happ, Kyle Schwarber and Kris Bryant.

DFS Starting Pitchers to Consider on Yahoo

Rick Porcello at STL ($41)

Rick Porcello has a tough matchup with the Cardinals on the road at Busch Stadium in St. Louis, Missouri, but he's still projected to score the most points according to Rotoballer's MLB Lineup Generator, my favorite premium fantasy tool. Because he is the seventh most expensive player and yet he has the highest projected score he's a nice value play on a day where the pitching choices are murky are best.

Matt Shoemaker vs CHW ($38)

Matt Shoemaker is the second biggest favorite on the slate this evening as he and his Angels are -170. They face a weak White Sox offense that is projected to score just three runs. That number is the smallest projected run total on the evening. While Shoemaker has the third highest projected score via our MLB Lineup Generator he is the ninth most expensive pitching option. This makes him both a good matchup play and a strong value play. Game on!

DFS Infielders to Consider on Yahoo

Catcher (C) - Gary Sanchez at KC ($18)

Gary faces off with LHP Jason Vargas Wednesday night at Kauffamn Stadium and that bodes well for Sanchez and his owners in the fake game. In his career against LHP he's managed a .333 ISO, .349 wOBA and a wRC+ of 120. He's expensive, but worth paying up for on Wednesday night.

First Base (1B) - Miguel Cabrera vs BAL ($17)

Miggy gets to step into the batter's box against Ubaldo Jimenez Wednesday night and that is a good thing as he's managed 15 hits including four doubles and a HR against Ubaldo in his career across 47 at bats. Cabrera has also notched an impressive 11:8 BB:K ratio in those at bats. With a carer .247 ISO at home against RHP I like Cabrera a lot tonight so join me and get him into all of your lineups.

Second Base (2B) - Rougned Odor vs PHI ($11)

Rougned is in my lineup yet again as he faces a RHP at home at the hitter friendly Globe Life Park. It's become a frequent thing as he's still quite cheap. I imagine it will continue to be fairly frequent when Odor faces a RHP if he stays this cheap and especially when he's at home. In his career at home against RHP Rougned has posted a .217 ISO.

Third Base (3B) - Mike Moustakas - vs NYY ($11)

The moose is loose Wednesday night in Kansas City as Moustakas gets to face Michael Pineda and the Yankees. This season against RHP at home Mike has posted a solid .280/.319/.551 triple slash with a .271 ISO, .367 wOBA and a wRC+ of 133. MM is a strong matchup play and a solid value play and will also likely be a contrarian one as well.

Shortstop (SS) - Elvis Andrus vs PHI ($13)

Andrus has been solid against RHP this season as he's notched an impressive .298/.346/.468 triple slash with a .351 wOBA and a 119 wRC+. On Wednesday night Elvis and the Rangers will face RHP Zach Eflin and the Phillies at home at the hitter friendly Globe Life Park. This bodes well and at just $13 I love the price too.

DFS Outfielders to Consider on Yahoo

Mike Trout vs CHW ($27)

You’re the best!
Around!
Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down
You’re the Best!
Around!
Nothing’s gonna ever keep you down
You’re the Best!
Around!
Nothing’s gonna ever keep you dow-ow-ow-ow-own

Mike Trout is the best around. At home against RHP this season he's posting superhero numbers. His triple slash of .368/.457/.877 is astounding, but it doesn't even compare to his .509 ISO, .523 wOBA and his 249 wRC+. Those numbers are silly good. So much so that he's worth much more than $27. The most expensive bat on the slate is also a strong value play. That's gnarly; so join me and get the Millville Meteor into all of your lineups.

Khris Davis at SEA ($13)

Khris Davis has gotten off to a bit of a slow start this season, but it still managing a .328 ISO on the road against RHP. On Wednesday night Davis and the A's will face RHP Christian Bergman and an overworked and ineffective Seattle bullpen. This matchup is a great one and for just $13 Khris is a strong value play.

Kyle Schwarber vs CIN ($11)

Kyle Schwarber has posted an impressive .368 on base percentage and .529 slugging percentage against RHP at Wirgley Field thus far in his career. He's also managed a whopping .294 ISO, .385 wOBA and a 143 wRC+ against northpaws at home. On Wednesday night Kyle and the Cubs will host RHP Scott Feldman and the Reds at Wrigley Field. When you factor in how cheap Schwabrer is he becomes a layup play and when you also factor in that there are 20 MPH winds blowing out to center field he becomes a Vince Carter windmill dunk.
