Wide Receiver Matchups To Target in Week 15

Mike Riggall's favorite WR vs. CB matchups to exploit for Week 15 of 2020 DFS contests on DraftKings and FanDuel. These wide receivers should be tournament and cash game targets based on matchups.

The Week 14 wide receiver matchups article featured some hits and misses. The best performers from last week were Allen Robinson finished as WR-2 and Nelson Agholor at WR-11. D.K. Metcalf finished with 18.1 fantasy points and Robby Anderson was heavily targeted, hauling in eight balls for 81 yards, both finishing inside the top-20   Mike Williams, played just a couple of snaps before exiting with a back injury, but his replacement, Tyron Johnson excelled which means the process for recommending Williams was correct. Justin Jefferson, gained just 39-scoreless yards while Christian Kirk and Breshad Perriman were simply duds.

Nothing is more important than evaluating matchups when making lineup decisions. From a yardage standpoint, the Jaguars, Lions, Jets, Texans and Falcons Defenses are giving up the most yards-per-pass which means they aren't great against the pass on a per-play basis so far this season. The Falcons, Vikings, Seahawks, Lions, Bengals and Jets Defenses have given up the most explosive pass plays in the league which means big-play wide receivers are likely to have good games against those defenses. Through the first 14 weeks of the season the Seahawks, Falcons, Titans, Lions, Vikings and Jets Defenses are giving up the most fantasy points to wide receivers which makes them units you want to exploit.

Now, here are the top WR vs CB matchups for Week 15. Use these to set season-long lineups, as well as gain a competitive edge in the DFS games.

Gabriel Davis, Buffalo Bills

$5,400 FanDuel / $4,000 DraftKings - vs Michael Ojemudia

John Brown will miss Week 15 due to injury which will give Gabriel Davis at least one more start in his absence. Davis will draw coverage from Michael Ojemudia who has been the weak-link in the Broncos secondary this season, giving up 1.51 yards-per-route covered which is eighth-worst in the NFL. Just last week the Broncos gave up 16 fantasy points to Curtis Samuel and 17.7 fantasy points to Robby Anderson in the same game, so there's room for both Stefon Diggs and Gabriel Davis to get it done this week. The Broncos have been fairly bad against the run this year but that shouldn't be much of a concern because Zack Moss has been struggling as of late and Buffalo is a pass-first team. The Bills play on Saturday which means Davis won't be on the main DFS slate, so this is more of a season-long recommendation if you need help at wide receiver.

Danny Amendola, Detroit Lions

$5,300 FanDuel / $4,200 DraftKings – vs Kristian Fulton

Matthew Stafford is not likely to play in Week 15 due to injury which means that Chase Daniel would see action as the Lions quarterback in his absence. The Titans are 11.5-point favorites and will likely control the line of scrimmage on their way to scoring a lot of points. This means Daniel will be throwing a lot on Sunday. Daniel hasn't seen a lot of action so far this season, and would likely look to his safety-valves in the passing game, which are Danny Amendola and T.J. Hockenson. Amendola would likely see a lot of Kristian Fulton in coverage who gives up an 87% catch-rate.

Allen Robinson, Chicago Bears

$7,300 FanDuel / $7,400 DraftKings - vs Cameron Dantzler

The Vikings Defense has been absolutely roasted by opposing wide receivers this season, giving up the fifth-most fantasy points to wide receivers in the league. The Vikings also give up a healthy 7.5 yards-per-pass and the second-most explosive plays through the passing game in the NFL. Mitch Trubisky has been looking better since returning to the starting lineup for the Bears and he's looked Robinson's way a lot since his return. Over the last four weeks, Robinson has averaged 11 targets-per-game and just under 23 fantasy points a week. David Montgomery has also been on a little streak himself lately, but that may slow down this week as the Vikings are solid against the run which may force the Bears to pass more.

Lynn Bowden Jr., Miami Dolphins

$5,000 Fanduel / $3,600 DraftKings - vs Jonathan Jones

The Dolphins wide receivers are a little banged up heading into Week 15 which means Lynn Bowden Jr. should, once again, play significant offensive snaps. DeVante Parker will likely be slowed by Stephon Gilmore, which means when the Dolphins aren't trying to run the ball, they'll likely be feeding their slot receiver with targets. Bowden will see coverage from Jonathan Jones for much of the day who is statistically the worst Patriots cover-cornerback, giving up a 67% catch-rate and 1.49 yards-per-route covered.

Jalen Reagor, Philadelphia Eagles

$5,500 FanDuel / $4,400 DraftKings - vs Dre Kirkpatrick

The Eagles are running the ball more since Jalen Hurts took over at quarterback, but Hurts will take shots down the field. When Hurts does throw deep, it will be to Jalen Reagor. Dre Kirkpatrick has given up 1.41 yards-per-route covered so far this season and he's always been susceptible to the deep-ball since his days in Cincinnati, making Reagor a boom-or-bust option in DFS and a decent option in deeper season-long leagues. The Cardinals are 6.5-point favorites and won't have any trouble scoring against the banged up Eagles Defense which means the Eagles will likely be throwing the ball late into the game.

Robert Woods, L.A. Rams

$7,400 FanDuel / $6,800 DraftKings - vs Bryce Hall

The Jets have given up the sixth-most fantasy points to wide receivers this season. Since Week 11, the Jets have given up at least 10 fantasy points to seven different receivers, and more than 15 fantasy points to five of those receivers. In Week 14, the Jets surrendered a touchdown to three different receivers and on the season, the Jets have given up 44 explosive pass plays which is near the bottom of the league. Robert Woods has made an explosive play in the passing game in three of his last six games, and he narrowly missed one last week against the Patriots had Jared Goff not overthrown him. Woods has a great shot to come through this week, you just need to hope the Rams don't jump out to an early lead and run out the clock the entire second half.

Christian Kirk, Arizona Cardinals

$5,300 FanDuel / $4,300 DraftKings – vs Kevon Seymour

The entire Eagles secondary is banged up and they are likely to be without Darius Slay (concussion protocol) which is good news for all of the Cardinals receivers. Christian Kirk has fallen off as of late but he's still playing more than 80% of the Cardinals offensive snaps. Kirk may have let us down last week, but the matchup doesn't get any better than this. Since Week 10 the Eagles have given up at least 13 fantasy points to five different receivers, two of which came last week.

Terry McLaurin, Washington Football Team

$6,900 FanDuel / $6,600 DraftKings - vs D.J. Reed Jr.

Terry McLaurin has underwhelmed over the last two weeks but in fairness to him, he's had some difficult matchups against the Steelers and 49ers Defenses. This week, McLaurin will have the best matchup he's had in weeks, facing D.J. Reed Jr. in coverage. While the Seahawks have given up the most fantasy points to wide receivers on the season, they've been better against the pass as of late. However, McLaurin will be the best receiver they've seen in about a month as the Seahawks have played their last few games against the Jets, Eagles and Giants, all of which have been struggling in the passing game. Washington is a 6.5-point underdog which means they'll likely be throwing the ball a lot.

Donovan Peoples-Jones, Cleveland Browns

$4,900 FanDuel / $3,500 DraftKings – vs Darnay Holmes

The Giants Defense has been solid against the run and the pass all season. However, in Week 15, they will be without the services of their lock-down cornerback James Bradberry who was placed on the COVID-reserve list on Thursday. This opens up the door for the Browns wide receivers to do some damage on the perimeter against the Giants. Donovan Peoples-Jones has been playing more in each of the last few weeks and seen an increase in targets, so this could be a big week for him. The Browns play on Sunday night so Peoples-Jones won't be on the main DFS slate, but he has a good shot to come through if you need help in a deeper season-long league.
