Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 16:
Christian Watson, WR, Green Bay Packers
Green Bay Packers head coach Matt LaFleur said that wide receiver Christian Watson (chest) is expected to be limited in Wednesday's practice, according to Rob Demovsky of ESPN. "He's improving. We'll just see how he's feeling out there," LaFleur said. Watson was listed as a non-participant on Tuesday's estimated injury report. He was hospitalized following a chest injury in Sunday's loss to the Denver Broncos, but doctors ruled out a long-term injury.
The 26-year-old's status is up in the air for Saturday's big divisional rematch against the Chicago Bears, but it's a good sign that Watson is returning to practice. Since making his season debut halfway through the 2025 season, Watson has been Green Bay's go-to wideout, catching 28 of his 43 targets for 481 yards and five touchdowns. The former second-rounder had 89 yards and two touchdowns two weeks ago against Chicago. If he's cleared to play, Watson will have WR2 upside in the rematch in the Windy City.
Tee Higgins, WR, Cincinnati Bengals
Cincinnati Bengals wide receiver Tee Higgins (concussion) is still in the league's concussion protocol, but he had his helmet on Wednesday and looked ready to practice, according to James Rapien of BengalsTalk.com. Higgins suffered his second concussion in two weeks in Week 14 and was held out of the Week 15 loss to the Baltimore Ravens. The 26-year-old was limited in two practices last week, but he ultimately wasn't able to clear the concussion protocol. He'll have a better shot to gain clearance this week, although the fact that Cincy has been eliminated from postseason contention could be a factor in whether he plays against the Miami Dolphins this Sunday.
If Higgins is cleared to play, he should be in all starting fantasy lineups in a plus matchup. Higgins has 46 receptions on 81 targets this year for 667 yards and nine touchdowns, which makes him the WR13 in half-PPR points per game in 2025. If Higgins misses a second straight game with his concussion, Andrei Iosivas and Mitchell Tinsley will both be in line for more targets behind WR1 Ja'Marr Chase.
Jerry Jeudy, WR, Cleveland Browns
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Jerry Jeudy still has plenty of big-play potential and is getting chances in his team's passing game. Jeudy has 16 targets in the four games since Shedeur Sanders took over at quarterback, and he caught two of his four targets in Week 15 for 22 yards. He had 76 yards and a touchdown in Week 14 against the Titans and has multiple catches in each of his last three games.
He still brings big-play upside, and Sanders does throw lots of deep balls, which gives him upside against the Bills and Steelers in a pair of home games in the next two weeks. Jeudy is high-risk, but there is still upside to playing him in deep leagues.
Emari Demercado, RB, Arizona Cardinals
Arizona Cardinals running back Emari Demercado had one carry for a yard in Sunday's 40-20 loss to the Houston Texans in Week 15. Demercado also had two catches for zero yards on three targets. The 26-year-old had a quiet performance in his first game back after missing three games due to an ankle injury. Bam Knight (ankle) was carted off the field early on Sunday and was ruled out for the remainder of the game. Michael Carter then slid into the RB1 role and dominated carries the rest of the game.
With the Cardinals unsure of Knight's status for Week 16, Demercado could be in for a bigger workload against the Atlanta Falcons. If Knight can't play next week against the Atlanta Falcons, Carter and Demercado would split work in the backfield. It is worth noting that Demercado had out-snapped Carter in two consecutive games before suffering his own ankle injury.
Heading into Week 16, Demercado is worth monitoring on waiver wires ahead of his matchup against the Falcons.
Quentin Johnston, WR, Los Angeles Chargers
Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Quentin Johnston (groin) was limited on Wednesday by the same groin injury that held him out of Week 15's win over the Chiefs. Johnston was a late addition to last week's injury report, logging a limited practice on Friday before missing his second game of the season. After a red-hot start to the year, Johnston has struggled with consistency, making him one of the more difficult start/sit decisions for most of the fantasy season.
If he is able to ramp up his practice participation, he remains in play as a desperation start for the fantasy semifinals, as the Chargers face a Cowboys defense that ranks dead last in points surrendered above expectation to the wide receiver position.
