Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks

Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 16:

Aaron Rodgers, QB, Pittsburgh Steelers

Pittsburgh Steelers quarterback Aaron Rodgers completed 23 of 27 passes for 224 yards and two touchdowns in Monday night's 28-15 win over the Miami Dolphins. The 42-year-old signal-caller completed 85.2% of his passes, the second-highest in a game of his storied career. Rodgers and the Steelers' offense got off to a slow start with punts on their first three drives, but then they found the end zone on four consecutive drives en route to a dominant win.

The veteran peppered running back Kenneth Gainwell with seven underneath targets to pick up easy yardage, then threw touchdown passes on back-to-back drives to former Green Bay Packers teammate Marquez Valdes-Scantling on the opening drive of the second half and D.K. Metcalf on the ensuing possession. Rodgers has put together two of his best games of the season in the past two weeks and will look to stay hot next week against the Detroit Lions on the road. It won't be an easy matchup, but Rodgers should be forced to throw plenty in a game with shootout potential.

Kirk Cousins, QB, Atlanta Falcons

Atlanta Falcons quarterback Kirk Cousins completed 30 of his 44 pass attempts for 373 yards, three touchdowns, and zero interceptions during Thursday's Week 15 win over the Tampa Bay Buccaneers. He also took one sack and recovered his own fumble. Cousins led five scoring drives on Thursday, including the game-winner with less than two minutes left to play.

The veteran quarterback shook off the old narrative that he's incapable of thriving in the primetime slot, and in doing so, he kicked off his candidacy for the top-scoring fantasy quarterback in Week 15. It's unlikely that many managers started Cousins in the first week of the fantasy playoffs, but his big game could be enough to justify deploying him as a fringe top-12 fantasy option heading into a favorable matchup against the Arizona Cardinals next week.

Jalen Hurts, QB, Philadelphia Eagles

Philadelphia Eagles quarterback Jalen Hurts turned the ball over five times in last week's Monday night loss to the Los Angeles Chargers, but he bounced back in a big way in a favorable Week 15 matchup on Sunday against the visiting Las Vegas Raiders. Hurts only attempted 15 passes in the 31-0 rout, but he completed 12 of them for 175 yards and three touchdown passes.

The 27-year-old signal-caller added seven carries for 39 yards on the ground. He was sacked only once for a loss of four yards. Two of Hurts' touchdown passes were short dump-offs to tight end Dallas Goedert, with his third passing TD coming to receiver A.J. Brown on a 27-yard hookup. It hasn't always been pretty in 2025, but Hurts now has 22 touchdown passes, eight rushing TDs, and six interceptions in 15 games. He has been a top-five fantasy QB and has another plus matchup for the fantasy semifinals in most leagues in Week 16 versus the division-rival Commanders.

Bryce Young, QB, Carolina Panthers

Carolina Panthers quarterback Bryce Young completed 15 of 24 pass attempts for 163 yards and a touchdown in the team's 20-17 loss to the Saints in Week 15 on Sunday. The Carolina QB also added a season-high 49 rushing yards on seven carries, totaling 15.4 Fantasy points. In 13 games played this season, Young has averaged 14.2 fantasy points per game. He has also registered more than 15 fantasy points in three of his last four starts. In Week 16, the Panthers will go up against the Tampa Bay Buccaneers.

In the four weeks leading up to Week 15, the Buccaneers ranked last in the league in fantasy points per game allowed to QBs. Tampa Bay's pass defense also surrendered the second-most passing touchdowns against opposing QBs during that span (eight). Although his fantasy totals for the year have been mediocre, this matchup makes Young a more favorable starter in superflex leagues for Week 16. Those who are desperate in one-QB leagues can also consider streaming Young.

Sam Darnold, QB, Seattle Seahawks

Seattle Seahawks quarterback Sam Darnold has only turned in two solid fantasy days in his last six outings. Darnold and the Seahawks' offense have failed to do well to find the end zone in recent weeks. Additionally, Darnold has been turning the ball over far too much. Although the Seahawks continue to win, their recent success is largely attributed to their stellar defensive play.

Based on what we saw earlier in the season, we know what Darnold and this offense are capable of. However, NFL defensive coordinators are very adaptable, and they may have figured out the ticket to stopping Seattle. With matchups against the Rams, Panthers, and 49ers remaining, Darnold will face three solid-to-great defenses in a row. Streaming Darnold was fun earlier in the season, but it may not be feasible in the fantasy playoffs.
