Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks

Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 15:

DaVante Adams, WR, Los Angeles

Los Angeles Rams wide receiver Davante Adams (hamstring) missed practice for a second consecutive day on Thursday. The veteran receiver picked up the injury in Week 14 against the Arizona Cardinals and ultimately played less than half of the offensive snaps.

While it's not uncommon for a veteran player to sit out the first practice of the week as a precaution, it's more concerning to see Adams miss two practice sessions in a row. He'd likely need to log a limited or full practice on Friday in order to have any chance of playing against the Detroit Lions in Week 15. If active, the touchdown threat would rank as a mid-to-low WR1 in fantasy football.

If he's sidelined, Tutu Atwell and Konata Mumpfield would earn more snaps as the Rams' No. 2 wide receiver behind superstar Puka Nacua. We should have more clarity on Adams' status when the Rams publish their final injury report on Friday.

De'Von Achane, RB, Miami Dolphins

According to offensive coordinator Frank Smith, the Miami Dolphins expect running back De'Von Achane (ribs) to be ready for Monday night's matchup against the Pittsburgh Steelers. The former Texas A&M Aggie picked up a rib injury in Week 14's 34-10 win over their division-rival New York Jets, posting 105 scrimmage yards and a touchdown on just eight total touches.

Achane would start the week with a limited practice on Thursday. However, he is expected to be a full go for his matchup on Monday Night Football, as head coach Mike McDaniel noted that the 24-year-old could have returned to last weekend's game if it were more competitive.

Fantasy managers should continue to monitor Achane's status over the weekend, but he'll be an elite RB1 play in Week 15 if he's active.

Jonathan Taylor, RB, Indianapolis Colts

Indianapolis Colts running back Jonathan Taylor is expected to see a "heavy dose" of work in the coming weeks after starting quarterback Daniel Jones (Achilles) tore his Achilles in the Week 14 loss to the Jacksonville Jaguars.

Taylor, who is currently second in the league with 282 total touches, will have an even bigger workload as the Colts look to take some pressure off of 44-year-old quarterback Philip Rivers, who will be expected to start for the Colts sooner rather than later. The superstar running back has slowed down from his torrid early-season pace over the past three games, handling 58 carries for 217 yards and a touchdown with five receptions (eight targets) for 44 yards as a receiver.

It remains to be seen if Taylor will be taking hand-offs from Rivers or Brett Rypien in Week 15, but he'll look to get back on track in a tough matchup on the road against the Seattle Seahawks.

Josh Jacobs, RB, Green Bay Packers

Green Bay Packers running back Josh Jacobs (knee), who missed a second straight day of practice on Thursday, said his knee stiffened up during the second half of Sunday's win over the Chicago Bears, according to Matt Schneidman of The Athletic. Jacobs had another scan on his knee on Monday, and everything is structurally intact.

Despite not having practiced yet this week, he's calling himself day-to-day ahead of Sunday's clash in Denver against the Broncos. The 27-year-old initially injured his knee in the Week 11 win over the Giants at MetLife Stadium, forcing him to miss Week 12. He has handled 37 carries for 169 yards and a touchdown while catching three passes for 14 yards in the last two games in his usual lead-back role.

Jacobs is trending toward being questionable for Week 15, but fantasy managers would feel a lot better if he can practice on Friday. Emanuel Wilson might be worth a speculative waiver-wire pickup in case Jacobs cannot go this weekend.

Saquon Barkley, RB, Philadelphia Eagles

Philadelphia Eagles running back Saquon Barkley handled 20 carries for 122 yards and a touchdown while adding zero catches on two targets in Monday night's 22-19 overtime loss to the Los Angeles Chargers. Barkley scored the only touchdown of the night for the Eagles on a 52-yard run to begin the fourth quarter.

The star running back notched his second 100-yard outing and second-longest run of the season on Monday night, with both previous marks coming back in Week 8 against his former team, the New York Giants.

The 28-year-old has been disappointing for fantasy managers who spent an early first-round pick on him, but he'll look to build on this performance for the rest of the season with several favorable matchups on deck. Next up will be a home date in Week 15 versus the Las Vegas Raiders.
