Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 12:
Cedric Tillman, WR, Cleveland Browns
Cleveland Browns wide receiver Cedric Tillman led the team with 52 receiving yards in a Week 11 loss to the Ravens and now prepares to face a Raiders defense that has struggled to defend the pass all year. In his second game back after missing four games with a hamstring injury, he showed glimpses of the play strength that showed up in his sophomore season, before suffering a season-ending concussion.
Unfortunately for Tillman and the rest of the Cleveland pass catchers, the Browns quarterback situation is currently one of the least desirable in the league. With Dillon Gabriel still in concussion protocol, Shedeur Sanders will likely get the first start of his career in Week 12.
And while this week will mark the first time that Sanders gets any reps practicing with the team's starters, what he put on film on Sunday while filling in for the injured Gabriel should not inspire confidence for fantasy managers. Even facing a generous Las Vegas defense, it would be difficult to trust Tillman this week. However, he remains an interesting stash, if only to see what sort of chemistry he's able to develop with whoever remains Cleveland's starter down the stretch.
Kayshon Boutte, WR, New England Patriots
New England Patriots wide receiver Kayshon Boutte (hamstring) was a full participant in practice on Thursday. He has been able to log back-to-back full sessions, which bodes well for his status heading into Week 12 against the Cincinnati Bengals.
Assuming Boute has another full practice on Friday, he should enter the weekend without any sort of injury designation. In such a scenario, he would reclaim his role as the No. 2 receiver in the Patriots' offense behind Stefon Diggs. Fantasy managers shouldn't rush to get him back into their lineups, though.
The Bengals have allowed the second-fewest points to receivers playing out wide, which is where Boutte has amassed 89.3% of his snaps. Stefon Diggs and Hunter Henry are far better fantasy options among the Patriots' pass catchers.
Xavier Legette, WR, Carolina Panthers
Carolina Panthers wide receiver Xavier Legette (hip) is practicing on Thursday after injuring his hip late in the Week 12 overtime win over the Atlanta Falcons on Sunday, according to Joe Person of The Athletic. Head coach Dave Canales said that Legette was a full participant on Thursday, which means he should be fine to play on Monday night versus the San Francisco 49ers.
The 24-year-old had one of his best performances of the year on Sunday before injuring his hip, catching four of his eight targets for 83 yards and a touchdown. It was Legette's third touchdown of the year and first since Oct. 19. The former first-rounder has been Carolina's No. 2 this year behind rookie Tetairoa McMillan, but he's been pretty inconsistent for his fantasy managers.
Legette has had only two games with over 31 receiving yards. The Niners have been a top-10 matchup for opposing WRs this year, but Legette's volatility makes him a boom/bust WR4/flex in fantasy in Week 12.
Jaylen Warren, RB, Pittsburgh Steelers
Pittsburgh Steelers running back Jaylen Warren (ankle) was back at practice on Thursday and was "moving around well" after being listed as a non-participant on Wednesday, according to Brian Batko of PGSportsNow. Warren might be listed as limited on Thursday's report, but it's a good sign for his availability after he injured his ankle on Sunday in the win over the Cincinnati Bengals.
The 27-year-old downplayed his ankle injury after Sunday's contest, but it was noteworthy that he didn't re-enter the game in the fourth quarter, allowing backfield mate Kenneth Gainwell to go for season highs in catches (seven) and receiving yards (81) while scoring twice.
Offensive coordinator Arthur Smith hinted that Gainwell could see more touches at Warren's expense moving forward, although that will probably be dependent on Warren's health. Warren has been Pittsburgh's clear RB1 this year, but his fantasy ceiling could be lower this weekend against Chicago if he's not 100% past his ankle injury. UPDATE: Warren was officially limited on Thursday.
Isiah Pacheco, RB, Kansas City Chiefs
Kansas City Chiefs running back Isiah Pacheco (knee) was listed as a limited participant in practice on Thursday due to a knee injury that has kept him out of the team's last two games. Pacheco was listed as a full-go on Wednesday, so it remains to be seen if he'll be cleared to play this Sunday against the Indianapolis Colts.
The 26-year-old has been wearing a bulky brace on his right knee in his return to practice this week. It's unclear if he suffered a setback on Thursday or if he is being rested by KC, but we should have a clearer picture of his Week 12 status on Friday.
Fantasy managers shouldn't be feeling great about Pacheco's value coming off a two-game absence if he ends up being cleared to face the Colts. Pacheco's upside has been limited this year with veteran Kareem Hunt serving as the team's preferred goal-line option. If he plays against Indy, Pacheco will be a touchdown-dependent RB3/flex, at best.
