Fantasy Football Matchup Outlooks
Below are some fantasy football outlooks written by our NFL team here at RotoBaller, bringing you their fantasy football analysis and advice on which players to consider starting in Week 10:
Kimani Vidal, RB, Chargers
Los Angeles Chargers running back Kimani Vidal followed a standout Week 8 performance with a dud, gaining only 30 yards on 12 carries in Sunday's 27-20 win over the Tennessee Titans. He averaged just 2.5 yards per carry and was outperformed by both Justin Herbert (57 rushing yards) and Jaret Patterson (44 yards), who was elevated from the practice squad again. It's been a rollercoaster for Vidal, who alternates between breakout games and quiet ones.
With Hassan Haskins (hamstring) and Omarion Hampton (ankle) both on IR until at least after the Week 12 bye, Vidal will continue to handle lead duties out of necessity. Next Sunday night, the Chargers face a Pittsburgh Steelers' defense that just shut down the league's top running back, Jonathan Taylor, so expectations should remain modest. With so many injuries and inconsistencies, it will be interesting to see if the Bolts' front office makes any trades to strengthen the running back position by the trade deadline tomorrow. For now, Vidal remains an RB3/FLEX option who relies on game script and red-zone opportunities.
Jordan Mason, RB, Vikings
Though Minnesota Vikings running back Aaron Jones Sr. (shoulder) left Sunday's win at Detroit, the team does not believe the injury is serious, which could mean a changing role for fellow running back Jordan Mason. The first-year Viking held down the backfield in Jones' absence with a hamstring injury, but Jones was the more effective of the two options against Detroit by gaining 42 more yards on one fewer carry.
Vikings coach Kevin O'Connell said the team found "an element of play style and physicality" that it had been lacking, and Jones was the main benefactor. Additionally, Mason probably hasn't helped his cause with a few bad pass-blocking reps that contributed to sacks during the past two weeks. Minnesota may opt to ride the hot hand at running back every week, which can be tricky from a fantasy perspective. But if the Vikings aim to recreate their successful Week 9 game plan, Jones may feature more than Mason in the weeks to come.
Alec Pierce, WR, Colts
Indianapolis Colts wide receiver Alec Pierce has almost exclusively been known as a downfield pass-catcher throughout his career. Across his first three NFL seasons, Pierce averaged 4.3 targets per game and 17.6 yards per reception. Now in his fourth season, Pierce is still making big plays.
However, there are signs that Indianapolis is viewing him as a more well-rounded wide receiver. Through his first seven games played in 2025, Pierce is averaging 6.4 targets per contest. He's been particularly involved in recent weeks with 28 targets over his last three games played. Pierce has yet to find the end zone this season, but he scored seven touchdowns across 16 games in 2024. Heading into a Week 10 matchup against the Atlanta Falcons, Pierce should be rostered in all fantasy leagues with 12 or more teams.
Quentin Johnston, WR, Chargers
Los Angeles Chargers wide receiver Quentin Johnston bounced back on Sunday in the team's 27-20 win over the Tennessee Titans, catching four passes for 53 yards and a touchdown, his sixth of the season. After not being targeted last week, Johnston was quickly integrated into the game plan and made the most of his opportunities.
However, the Chargers' offensive line remains a major concern after losing Joe Alt (ankle) for the season and surrendering six sacks to a short-handed Titans defense. Next week, the Bolts face a Pittsburgh Steelers defense that has been vulnerable all season but recently held the red-hot Indianapolis Colts in check. Johnston remains a volatile WR3 with touchdown upside if Herbert can avoid pressure and connect with him downfield.
DK Metcalf, WR, Steelers
Pittsburgh Steelers wide receiver DK Metcalf logged just two receptions for six yards on four targets in a 27-20 victory over the Indianapolis Colts. On paper, everything was set up for Metcalf to deliver on Sunday, but he instead turned in his worst performance of the season. He took a backseat to Calvin Austin III, Darnell Washington, and Pat Freiermuth, failing to receive a single opportunity in the second half.
If there's any silver lining, it's that Metcalf was targeted by Aaron Rodgers twice inside the five-yard line. Better days are certainly ahead for the seventh-year pro, and Pittsburgh still clearly views him as its WR1 after standing pat at receiver through the NFL trade deadline. That said, expectations should be tempered for Metcalf against a tough Los Angeles Chargers defense in Week 10.
