Kyler Murray, QB, Arizona Cardinals
Arizona Cardinals head coach Jonathan Gannon said that quarterback Kyler Murray (foot) will be monitored this week after briefly leaving the Week 5 loss to the Tennessee Titans on Sunday to have his foot evaluated in the locker room, according to Darren Urban of AZCardinals.com.
The fact that Murray returned and finished out Sunday's game should give fantasy managers hope that he'll be able to play in Week 6 against the Indianapolis Colts. However, Gannon is leaving things up in the air early in the week, so we'll have to pay close attention to the 28-year-old signal-caller's practice status later in the week.
Murray had another middling fantasy outing against the Titans, throwing for 220 yards, no touchdowns, and no interceptions. He added a rushing touchdown but also lost a fumble. If Murray is unable to play in Week 6, veteran Jacoby Brissett would make the start against the one-loss Colts.
Joshua Palmer, WR, Buffalo Bills
Buffalo Bills wide receiver Joshua Palmer has seen his involvement in the offense diminish significantly since his strong Week 1 showing. After drawing nine targets in the season opener, Palmer has managed just seven combined over the past three games, falling behind Khalil Shakir and Keon Coleman in the pecking order.
Through four weeks, he's totaled only 10 receptions for 138 yards, failing to provide consistent fantasy production or scoring upside. With Buffalo's passing attack spreading the ball around and Palmer's role shrinking each week, fantasy managers can safely move on in all formats.
There are likely more impactful options available on the waiver wire capable of offering higher volume and better week-to-week reliability than Palmer at this point in the season.
Carson Wentz, QB, Minnesota Vikings
The Minnesota Vikings hope to have starting quarterback J.J. McCarthy (ankle) back in time to play in Week 7 against the Philadelphia Eagles, which would mean backup Carson Wentz is likely headed back to a reserve role once again.
With McCarthy yet to practice, however, Dianna Russini of The Athletic reported it's possible the second-year quarterback could be out longer, but cited a league source saying there was "nothing to see here" regarding a change in McCarthy's timeline. The Vikings are on a bye in Week 6, which will give McCarthy another full week of rest before tentatively returning to practice next week.
Managers in Superflex leagues with stakes in the Vikings' QB room should be ready to keep up with the injury reports in the lead-up to Week 7.
