Baltimore Orioles third base prospect Coby Mayo has been one of the best hitters in the minor leagues this season. Through his second look at Triple-A ball this summer, the 22-year-old has posted a dominant .294/.370/.589 line with 20 home runs, 58 RBI, and a 32:76 BB:K ratio.
This is a big improvement over the .267/.393/.512 slash line he held across his first 62 games at the top level in the minor leagues last season.
Since returning from a rib injury in mid-June, Mayo has continued to post elite numbers with a stellar .302/.385/.575 line which suggests his major league debut could be right around the corner.
Coby Mayo Prospect Update for Fantasy Baseball
The Baltimore Orioles placed infielder Jorge Mateo (elbow) on the 10-day injured list on Thursday, July 25. Mateo is projected to miss a significant amount of time according to Paige Leckie of MLB.com.
Mateo logged 56 starts at the keystone this season. As a result, Jordan Westburg will likely shift to second base more often which could open up the hot corner for Mayo.
