Trey Sweeney is a fantasy baseball waiver wire stash for Week 22 (2024). Target Trey Sweeney as a top prospect free-agent waiver wire pickup for fantasy baseball.
BALLER MOVE: Add in Deeper Leagues
CALL-UP ETA: August 16
ANALYSIS: The Detroit Tigers are ready to see what they have with their young prospects as we head into the final six weeks of the season. Shortstop Trey Sweeney has been called up from Triple-A Toledo along with third baseman Jace Jung with both youngsters set to take over the left side of the infield from struggling veterans Javier Baez and Gio Urshela.
Sweeney came over from the Dodgers in the Jack Flaherty trade and has been on fire since joining Toledo, hitting .381 with two home runs and four steals across his first 11 games as a Mud Hen.

The 6-foot-3 lefty hit .254 for Triple-A Oklahoma City with 13 home runs and 16 steals across his first 96 games this season before the trade.
Sweeney is a former first-round pick of the Yankees who possesses great size, strength, and speed. The 24-year-old looks ready for the challenge of the big leagues and should get plenty of opportunities down the stretch to show what he can do.
Sweeney is rostered in just 1% of Yahoo! leagues but is a toolsy young player who could be a solid fantasy asset for managers in deeper formats. Add him now and see if he can keep up his hot hitting with the Tigers before other managers have a chance to react.
