Today’s MLB Daily Fantasy Best Ball Picks, Values, and Sleepers for RIVAL (5/29/24)

Josh Naylor

Shaun Evans' MLB Best Ball picks for RIVAL Fantasy MLB Best Ball contests for Wednesday, 5/29. See who he is liking to target in drafts and why.

Happy Wednesday, RotoBallers, and welcome to our new series covering RIVAL Fantasy Best Ball daily action for the MLB season! We will be covering some of our favorite value players and sleepers that can help you win your league.

MLB best ball is similar to your everyday normal fantasy baseball leagues except you draft your team and don't have to worry about setting lineups. There is no need to stress over free-agent pickups or trying to make a trade with one of your league mates. You just draft your team, kick back, and enjoy the season.

RIVAL Fantasy does take a 10% rake but each draft type is snake and your timer is 45 seconds. There's no reason to have to wait 7 hours and 22 minutes for Billy to take his first pitcher finally. It's quick and easy draft to get through, which ultimately means more drafts to do. Check here for the updated rules and scoring.

Be sure to check all of our fantasy baseball lineup tools and resources:

RIVAL Fantasy MLB Best Ball Infielder Plays

Josh Naylor, 1B - Cleveland Guardians

Cleveland Guardians first baseman Josh Naylor has been in a slump but has another favorable matchup versus the Colorado Rockies. Naylor is batting .229 (43-for-188) with eight doubles, 13 homers, 27 runs, 35 RBI, 21 walks, and 34 strikeouts in 51 games. Ty Blach is projected to start for the Rockies and he is 1-2 on the season with a 4.55 ERA through seven starts.

Gleyber Torres, 2B - New York Yankees

Gleyber Torres is coming into Wednesday's game with a four-game hit streak and should be able to continue it. Torres is batting .357 (5-for-14) with one double, one homer, two RBI, one walk, and four strikeouts during those four games. Tyler Anderson has been stellar on the mound for the Los Angeles Angels but will face this Yankees lineup full of power hitters.

RIVAL Fantasy MLB Best Ball Outfielder Plays

Juan Soto, RF - New York Yankees

To continue off of Gleyber Torres, stacking him with Juan Soto is a must-do move. Soto has yet to cool down for the Yankees this season. He's batting .310 (65-for-210) with 11 doubles, one triple, 14 homers, 39 runs, 44 RBI, 36 walks, and 39 strikeouts in 55 games. Using the RotoBaller tools, Soto is projected near 10 points with 4.7 plate appearances.

Daulton Varsho, LF - Toronto Blue Jays

Daulton Varsho is in a great matchup going up against the Chicago White Sox with Chris Flexen on the mound. Varsho has struggled a decent amount this season. Flexen is 2-4 this season with a 5.69 ERA through 11 games. He has struggled versus left-handed hitters this season, allowing a .265 batting average to lefties with 18 hits, five homers, and only striking out 12 hitters.

RIVAL Fantasy MLB Best Ball Starting Pitcher Plays

Corbin Burnes, SP - Baltimore Orioles

Corbin Burnes will be one of the top targeted pitchers and for good reason. He has been consistent on the mound with a 4-2 record. Burnes has a 2.60 ERA through 11 starts, allowing six homers, 21 runs, 17 walks, and 66 strikeouts. The Boston Red Sox have had some success this season versus right-handed pitchers but have struck out at a good rate, giving Burnes a boost.

Ryne Nelson, SP - Arizona Diamondbacks

Ryne Nelson has not had the prettiest of starts this season but he looked like he gained some confidence with his win against the Los Angeles Dodgers. He threw five innings with three walks, five strikeouts, and five hits. He is 3-3 on the season with a 6.03 ERA through eight starts. The Texas Rangers are hitting .244 against right-handed pitchers and this will show if Nelson can continue his confident play.
