Andy discusses if top prospect Coby Mayo is worth stashing in redraft leagues in Week 20.
Baltimore Orioles third base prospect Coby Mayo has been one of the best hitters in the minor leagues this season at Triple-A.
The 22-year-old is on pace to smash previous career highs in all categories and is considered one of the best prospects in the sport.
However, knowing when to stash an elite prospect can put you over the edge and secure you a fantasy championship. In this piece, I will discuss how high Mayo's potential could be in 2024 and when he might get the call.
How High Is Coby Mayo's Fantasy Potential?
Through 74 games at Triple-A Norfolk, the former fourth-round selection currently carries a stellar .293/.367/.579 slash line with 20 home runs, 58 RBI, and a 32:79 BB:K ratio.
The infielder faced a minor setback when he fractured a rib in May. However, in the 31 games since he has recovered, he boasts a .298/.377/.553 line with seven round-trippers, 20 RBI, and a 15:25 BB:K ratio which shows that he did not even miss a step when he returned.

Last summer at Norfolk, Mayo posted a lower .267/.393/.512 line with only 12 home runs in a 62-game stint which is a testament to his continued progression.
When Might Coby Mayo Get A Major-League Opportunity?
Infielder Jorge Mateo (elbow) recently hit the 10-day injured list last week and is expected to miss a significant amount of time. As a result Jordan Westburg will now likely cover the keystone which could open up the hot corner for Mayo.
In addition, the Orioles recently acquired left-handed pitcher Trevor Rogers from the Miami Marlins in exchange for second baseman Connor Norby. This also increases Mayo's chance of receiving a call as now another roadblock that was in his way has been shipped to another team.

Even though the Stoneman Douglas HS product is still at Triple-A, his promotion could be right around the corner, and should be rostered in all leagues. He has elite power potential and could be a league winner down the stretch.
