When will Coby Mayo debut for the Orioles? Should I stash Coby Mayo in fantasy baseball leagues? Fantasy baseball prospect outlook for the Orioles third baseman.
The Baltimore Orioles have one of the best records in all of MLB as we head into the All-Star break.
And they still have yet to use one of their best hitting prospects this season, as third baseman Coby Mayo remains at Triple-A Norfolk for the time being.
How soon can we expect to see Mayo contribute in Baltimore?
How High Is Coby Mayo's Fantasy Baseball Potential?
The answer is that his potential is massive. We are talking about a prototypical third baseman who is 6-foot-5, 230 pounds, and has a missile of an arm across the diamond to first base.
It’s hilarious watching the reactions from outfielders when they realize they have no chance of catching a ball that’s mashed by Coby Mayo.

He also has some incredible raw power to all fields and is showing it off this season at Triple-A with 22 home runs in just 262 at-bats!
He's also hitting for average (.306) and getting on base (.390 OBP), so he's not an "all-or-nothing" big swinger, either.
Mayo is ranked as the 15th overall prospect in baseball, currently, but you could argue that he is the most polished hitter at the Triple-A level who has yet to debut with his team.
When Might Coby Mayo Get A Major League Opportunity?
Managers have been patiently waiting for Mayo to get that call, but since there's been no talk of his promotion or timetable for it, Mayo is rostered in just 13% of Yahoo! leagues. That number seems incredibly low for a guy who could come up and make a major impact immediately.
The time to stash Mayo is now, as the trade deadline is only a few weeks away. Mayo could either be used as a trade chip and sent to another team in a package for an elite starting pitcher or he could be called up to Baltimore after it trades away others on its roster.
It certainly sounds as if Baltimore is definitely going to make a few moves to shore up its roster for a run at the World Series this season, and that could mean that Mayo's arrival in Baltimore (or another big league club) is only a few weeks away.
