One and Done Selections - The 3M Open
In this feature, our golf staff of Joe Nicely, Spencer Aguiar, Joe Idone, Matt Miller, Byron Lindeque, and our special guest will provide their weekly golf picks every Wednesday. The purpose of this article is to present you with alternative options to consider and hopefully make your selection a much easier process weekly. With that plan in mind, let's get started!
Joe Nicely - Cameron Davis
A brief shining moment at the Masters aside, 2024 had largely been a forgettable season for Cameron Davis. But, the talented Davis came from seemingly out of nowhere to win the Rocket Mortgage Classic to close out June. It was a reminder that the Aussie has the sort of big-time game needed to win on the PGA Tour.
Since the victory in Detroit, a switch appears to have flipped for Davis. A T26 at the Genesis Scottish Open and a T19 at the 3M Open came in July with Davis firing nine sub-70 scores across his last 12 rounds. He's now gained over eight strokes T2G in each of his last three starts.
In addition to his trending form, the Aussie has been strong in previous trips to Sedgefield Country Club, posting a T7 in last year's Wyndham Championship, as well as a T15 and a T22 within the last five years.

I get that he is going to be popular, but his first-place grade for Expected Strokes Gained Total carried a massive weight for me in my sheet.
