Joe Nicely - Scottie Scheffler

I'm all for being contrarian, but in about of decade of doing this no player has ever graded out as high for me in a major championship as Scottie Scheffler does for the Masters this week. He’s the best player in the world by a noticeable margin and he’s a former winner at AugustaNational. I’m not going to overthink this one.

Spencer Aguiar - Rory McIlroy

Tale as old as time.

I strongly considered going with Xander Schauffele here because of the upside marks in my sheet, but I am ready to be hurt again.

I get that many of Rory's quality Masters finishes have experienced a similar trajectory as we got last week in Texas, but McIlroy's words of newfound "strategy" and "safety" paid dividends at the Valero, where he produced only four bogeys during the tournament, including a bogey-free 66 on Sunday to surpass the 11 bogeys he had averaged per event this season over his opening five events.

There wasn't a golfer who delivered as many top-ranked grades as McIlroy in my model, and the slow start to the year could have him go into the week with limited expectations.

At least I keep telling myself this every year when finding a reason to back him at Augusta.

Byron Lindeque - Brooks Koepka

We have the LIV golfers entering the OAD realm now and without a doubt I will be leaning into Brooks Koepka to get the job done. The fact that his price is sitting around 20-1 makes me think there are other options like Rahm and Scheffler where the majority of the chalk should fall. We have a 5 time major champion who has 10 top-4s in majors since 2017. He should be right in the mix all week and there is zero doubt he wants to flex his biceps in that green jacket at a Penguins game. I don’t see why more people are not clambering to get on Brooks in every market imaginable.
