PrizePicks PGA DFS Prop Picks - Over/Under Props for the Fortinet Championship (Round 1)

Max Homa - PGA DFS Picks, Golf Betting Picks, Daily Fantasy Golf

Welcome to our PrizePicks PGA DFS prop picks for the Fortinet Championship (Round 1). The PGA Tour season is already back for its 2024 campaign, and to celebrate, PrizePicks has an extensive selection of PGA props to take advantage of! PrizePicks is a great DFS props site where you can choose to select plays in terms of fantasy points or singular stats. The goal is to build a 2-player, 3-player, 4-player, or 5-player entry and then select whether or not you want to play for the power play or the flex play. On the power play, you will need to be correct on each of your selections to win, and on the flex play, you will have a little more wiggle room for a chance to win some money back.

Our partners at PrizePicks offer some of the best and easiest-to-win PGA DFS games in the industry. There are no large-field tournaments filled with sharks where you have to get lucky just to place. At PrizePicks, you're not playing against other people, you're just playing against the projections, and the guys at PrizePicks have worked hard to give you really attractive opportunities to make some money. With promo code 'BALLER' you can get a 100% match on your deposit of up to $100.

This week, we're at Silverado Resort and Spa for the 2023 Fortinet Championship! This pristine venue in the heart of Napa Valley has hosted this Championship since 2014, and in that time, we've seen winners ranging from 14-1 to 200-1 on the closing line. With the last few coveted spots in 2024's Signature Events on the line, the 2023 Fall Swing carries even more weight than in a traditional year. I'd expect plenty of big-time names making appearances we'd never have expected in years past. I and the entire Rotoballer PGA staff have put out 1,000s of words on the course, key stats, and field this week, so this article won't be focused on the minutiae of projecting outright winners or DFS pivot plays. Instead, I'll be solely focused on a few money-making opportunities I've found in PrizePicks' unique markets to help you build your bankroll as the PGA Tour season gets into full swing! Today's plays are specifically for round one on Thursday, September 14.

Featured Promo: Our friends at PrizePicks are hooking you up. Get a 100% instant deposit match up to $100 using promo code BALLER with your first deposit, and also a free year of RotoBaller Premium access ($199 value)! Claim your 100% instant deposit match now, and use our prop picks to get off on a winning foot!

Max Homa LESS than 69.0 Strokes

2023 has been a life-changing year for Max Homa, as the UC Berkeley alum reached a career-high World Ranking of 6th, captured a landmark win at Torrey Pines, and earned his first-ever invitation onto the U.S. Ryder Cup team. His ascent to the top of the golfing world has been remarkably swift, but you cannot discount the part that Silverado has played in his expeditious rise.

Homa himself credited this tournament in 2021 as a landmark moment in his attitude shift, as for the first time, he felt whole-heartedly as though he was the man to beat on Sunday in contention. He closed the deal on the day, and proceeded to defend his title in dramatic fashion the very next year - chipping in from off the green on the 72nd hole to edge out Danny Willett.

It should come as no surprise that Homa comes into this week as the odds-on favorite to complete the three-peat, and statistically, there aren't a lot of holes to poke in Max's game at the moment. Homa ranks inside the top 10 in virtually every key category (Total Driving, Wedge Proximity, Par 5 Scoring, Birdie or Better Percentage, Poa Annua Putting), and enters the new season on the back of four consecutive Top 10's dating back to the Open Championship. The California kid has surpassed this line of 69.0 in six of his last eight competitive rounds in Napa Valley, and there's nothing in the numbers to indicate those trends are in danger of ending this week.

Sahith Theegala LESS than 69,5 Strokes

I've historically been behind the market when it comes to Sahith Theegala, but if there were ever a venue I'd back the Pepperdine alum to break through on the PGA Tour, it'd be right here at Silverado. Theegala has historically been let down by his inefficiencies off the tee, but luckily for him, there isn't another venue on Tour where missing the fairway provides such little consequence.

Silverado features a Missed Fairway Penalty comparable to that of Augusta National or TPC Craig Ranch, and concedes the fourth-most birdies from drives out of the rough. With Theegala's biggest weakness mitigated, I expect the rest of his game to shine though. Sahith is already one of the Tour's most prolific birdie-makers despite his wayward driver, and he's proven to be sizably more dangerous on Silverado's tricky Poa Annua complexes.

In fact, two of the seven best-putting performances of Theegala's career have come right here in Napa Valley (+7.9 in 2020, +4.7 in 2022), and since 2020, only 11 players in this field have gained more strokes on a per-round basis on Poa Annua greens. Couple this history with the momentum he carries in off of back-to-back Top 15's in last month's playoffs, and I'd be very surprised if Sahith isn't right there in the running for his first ever PGA Title this weekend.
