Zane Smith Lacks Speed For Sunday Race
6 months agoZane Smith kept falling off the pace at New Hampshire and Iowa. The results for the Spire Motorsports car were two results in the 30's. Smith qualified 35th for Sunday's Ally 400 and it would not be surprising if he gets lapped in short order. Finishing 0.92 seconds off the pole position time of Denny Hamlin is one thing. However, race speed seems to fall off faster in long runs compared to practice speed for Smith. That is the big concern. Attrition and a little luck might be Smith's only allies on Sunday afternoon.
