Zach Evans 2023 NFL Player Outlook: A Valuable Rookie Backup In 2023
2 years agoOle Miss running back Zach Evans was a five-star recruit coming out of high school and was drafted by the Los Angeles Rams in the sixth round of the 2023 NFL Draft. The Rams' backfield consists of 2022 fifth-round pick Kyren Williams and the team's lead back Cam Akers, who rushed 188 times for 786 yards and seven touchdowns across 15 games in 2022. In college, Evans was an explosive back whose draft capital was hindered by previous injuries. He'll hit the NFL season fully healthy and try replicating his explosive college efficiency. The 21-year-old will need some work with pass protection and pass catching at the next level to find his way onto the field this season. However, suppose Evans can improve in these aspects. In that case, with the opportunity on a team that wants to run the ball, plus being the backup and second option alongside Akers (who has longevity concerns of his own), Evans could find his way to fantasy production. He is a solid late-round dynasty stash and a name to look out for in redraft.
